Maybe it was the predictable mainstream media omertá, but somehow I missed the disquieting news, announced April 7, that Obama had cut the screening time for Syrian refugees all the way down to three months from the original 18-24.
This after Mr. Michael Steinbach, executive assistant director for the FBI's National Security Branch, testified on the refugee situation to the House Homeland Security Committee in February as follows:
We don't have it under control. Absolutely, we're doing the best we can. If I were to say that we had it under control, then I would say I know of every single individual traveling. I don't. And I don't know every person there and I don't know everyone coming back. So it's not even close to being under control.
Not even close to being under control? So why not speed things up then? And, while you're at it, keep raising the number of refugees you're admitting. "Gina Kassem, the regional refugee coordinator at the U.S. Embassy in Amman, told AP the target of 10,000 refugees 'is a floor and not a ceiling, and it is possible to increase the number.'"
