After two months I am WAY ahead in my savings for moving to Florida. I am not changing my timetable though. I will just have a bigger nest egg when I eventually do move next year.

Or I will need to spend a ton of money fixing my car. Could go either way at this point.

I recall you getting a new car.
Has it's warranty expired then ?

I have just deposited my annual private pension in my bank.

I started paying into it shortly before I was made redundant from one career. The UK government's rules at the time meant that I could only buy an annuity with it. It had accumulated a few pounds over the minimum £250 limit that made buying an annuity compulsory.

So I deposited £8.34 after paying over £2 in tax. That will go a long way spread over 52 weeks.

I paid tax on eaxh of my contributions to that pension. I paid insurance tax on the management of the fund. I pay tax when they pay me.

If I had to claim benefits from Social Security, they would deduct the pre-tax amount from the calculation of benefit I might receive.

But - when I finally pay tax at year end, that £8.34 had been taxed at a lower rate so I have to pay MORE tax on top of the tax I had already paid.

I'm subsidising the UK State Pensioners who didn't have a private pension pot.

I suppose I shouldn't complain too much. After all, that £8.34 is from my fourth pension pot. I contributed to all four when I was working.

Please don't; without it the heart don't beat. :)
I have a hip which sometimes feels the same way. . .

 My new mantra is "keep the drama on the page." It's hard to get it out of my brain sometimes. People think I'm so calm but they have no idea what's going on inside my brain at times, and that's a good thing.

Yup, me too. If the world only knew

I really really wish PennGirl would stop getting sick on weekends. :( No fun for anyone, especially her.

Get well soon.

Hear Hear

Thanks.

She is still sick although better today. If she still has her fever tomorrow, to the doctor we go.

I think whatever has been going around in school is still going around. PennGirl's teacher told me that seven kids (out of about 24) were out today. Last week another teacher had 11 out (about the same total). it'd be nice if this would just STOP.

If its anything like our lot, the only way it will stop is to convince EVERY parent to keep their kid home and convince the school to stop teaching for a week.
Fat Chance; there's always someone who'll screw it :)

Good Luck

 I'm confused. Is penngirl writing in the third person, or is someone writing for her?

These fucking dumbass climate change idiots are as obnoxious (and dumb) as Seventh-Day Adventists or Moonies.

My Chevron proxy statement arrived. It has no less than six (6) really, really, really stupid climate-related shareholder proposals. Every last one of them appears to be the work of a cognitively-impaired crackpot. They think they're "saving the world." In reality, they're making it worse off.

It's frustrating that the company no longer identifies who the proposers are. In the old days, they tended to be the handiwork of misguided delusionals such as the Little Sister of the Poor or 98-year old spinsters with their 3 shares of stock.

Nowadays, it's gullible dumbfucks who should know better.
