Bathroom Laws & Voter ID Laws

Recently some states have passed some laws that require people to use the bathroom associated with their sex as denoted on their birth certificate. Some of these same states have voter ID laws that require one to pay for a copy of their birth certificate to get an ID to vote.

I'd imagine if someone was cited for using the wrong bathroom and decided to fight it in court the state would have to produce their birth certificate for evidence at trial. Granted one may have to pay a fine, but I'd imagine in some cases this would be an easier way to obtain a birth certificate than obtaining one to vote.

I'm also curious as to what would happen if the state couldn't find a person's birth certificate if they had been charged with using the wrong bathroom.

How would getting a ticket (or whatever you get for it),going to court, paying a fine and maybe a lawyer and dealing with all that goes with it be easier than just getting your birth certificate yourself?

Every time I lose my birth certificate the state of Wisconsin sends me one for $20. I'm pretty sure that's cheaper than a ticket. Especially since speeding in Wisconsin and getting caught will run you $250.

Because in some rural areas the office that issue one's birth certificate (assuming there is a birth certificate for that person) is only open once a week, is a long distance away, and has no mass transportation to get there.

One doesn't have to actually go to trail, just ask for a copy of the birth certificate in discover and pay the fine. It might be cheaper than taking the day off of work, and paying the $25.

Probably the most you'll ever spend getting one is 20-30 bucks. Can't imagine it going higher than that. I had to get mine a few years ago and it was $12.
Breaking a law and going to court seems like a pretty expensive way of doing it especially without knowing if it would actually work.

That's the fine for speeding, I don't think they've announced what the actual fine for using the wrong bathroom is.

I think you're thinking of ID's. Birth certificates are usually issued by the county clerk or similar entity so you go to the county courthouse which is open more than one day a week everywhere.
And why wouldn't someone have a birth certificate?

If you're dirt poor, the lawyer is free and the fine gets waived.

There's always a charge for a birth certificate, even for new parents. My state tried to upsell me on them too, with their "buy one and get a second for half price" offer.

That's no way to avoid abortions.

I like your thinking of working the system though!

Playing the system is fine when it works to your favor. Spending 6 months and who knows how many trips to court just to get a free copy of a $20 birth certificate is sort of dumb.

I know there's a charge but the person still has one even if they don't have it in their posession.

I don't know the OP well at all but I'm pretty sure this was tongue-in-cheek.

You may decide which cheek.

The courthouse may be open, but does the clerk issue out birth certificates every day that they are open?

If they weren't born in a hospital. Ronald Reagan never had a birth certificate.

Keeping in mind that Mississippi may have a law on the books that says you can't get a birth certificate without photo ID and you can't get photo ID without a birth certificate.

Yes they do. It takes 2 minutes and some states can be done over the phone or by mail I think.
And yes he did have one. Check snopes.

I Don't Care

My company insurance, the same one I've had over 52 years, forced me to send our marriage license and birth curtificate six months ago. They cancelled my wife as my dependant.
So she was without insurance six months, unable to get overpriced meds etc.
Since our records are in Illinois and we are in Florida my son had to pay $15 roughly each and mail to us. In return I had to waste stamps, etc to mail to some new insurance office that our company now has in Shitcargo.
Wife finally was added back as my dependant which she's been most of her life.
All well and good. A few months ago same insurance company decided they needed the records again. Same crap same waste of money.
Again with luck my wife is my dependant. WTF?
I called the company and asked how often we may have to do this crap.
Their answer "whenever we decide we need an update." WTF again.

For around 50+ years I never had to prove my wife as a dependant. I was told it has something to do with a Black President and some O*** care! WTF?
It's enough to make me piss in a ladies toilet at high noon.

Update.... In our county in Illinois the records must be picked up in person or by a relative who has been approved.
Also they screw us by putting a code on the records so we can't make copies. Those say VOID. It's all about money!

In Florida to get a driver licnese renewed you need leventy seven proofs of residnence........unless illegal or Muslim.

I have no idea about that.
My point is that your method doesn't really make sense.

I checked Snopes. It says nothing about Regan having the birth certificate in his possession.

There was a story about the new voting laws in Wisconsin, one old woman, a naturalized citizen who had voted in every single election since 1960, was denied the right to vote because she couldn't produce her birth certificate.

Her response: "I was born in Auschwitz....they didn't give birth certificates there".

Fuck Scott Walker and his fucking "voter fraud".

Glad to see that they're cracking down on the illegal immigrants.
