Should You Tape Over Your Webcam?

I do.

So does the Queen and Princess.

They can be easily hacked, and no Literotican wants to be caught, er, uh, red-handed...

Almost all of my users have something blocking the camera. The funniest one was the bandaid that covered it.

I keep telling them that I dont put on the drivers for it to work, but they dont believe me.

Only last night, I watched a segment on the news about this! The reporter hired a 'white hacker' to target a family. This family had all the general safeguards on their computers and home network.
It took the guy less than 3 minutes from when he started to get into the 17 yr old daughters computer, and from there he hacked the home network and accessed every computer in the home that was turned on
He was watching the girl in her bedroom on her laptop webcam.
He got all their banking details and passwords to everything.
It was that easy and quick!

So to answer - yes, you should block your cam.

People are paranoid about the webcam on their computers, while ignoring the webcam on their phones.

What webcam?

There are advantages to using older equipment.

My webcam is in a drawer of my filing cabinet.

Added:

No webcam on my computer, nor monitor, nor my laptop.

No cam on my phone. My phone is switched off except perhaps for a few minutes once a month. My digital camera takes pictures onto a card which links to nothing until I plug it in. My main camera uses 35mm film - remember that?

No wireless signal to hack. My computer is connected to my modem by ethernet cable. My keyboard and mouse are wired to my computer. There's no home network. My printer is wired to my computer. If my wife wants me to print something for me, she sends it by email. :)

No way to view my screen from outside. It is at a right angle to the window, shielded by the computer tower, and the window faces a blank wall.

So you're facing the sea, but the window isn't?

Mine has a visor. So even if someone could see what it sees, it would be covered by a solid black piece of plastic with the Logitech logo on it.

You people should toss a paper bag over your heads just in case the tape falls off or something.

Testing 1--2--3.. Tap tap!

This is a test. it's only a test.
I gave my portable cam to my son who lives miles away.

There is a camera lens thingie on my monitor. The tower is in a cabinet with the door partially open to let air in or heat out. My desk is against an east wall in the living room with double windows to the north and south. From outside the monitor could be viewed at an angle.
There is an open space tween the kitchen, dining room, and living rooms.
Someone could look in the kitchen window from the back porch. Someone could look in the south side dining room window over a short dividing wall.
Some one could also look in the tiny back door window from the porch on the north side.
I wear a tinfoil hat at all times. My wife and I are normally naked.

What I want you to tell me is how large is my penis as I hold it up in front of the monitor camera hole thingie?

If enough people are correct I will either put some pants on or get the damned soft thing hard so it looks nicer.

That concludes this test done on a satellite dish and crappy internet service.
