Aaah! I know nothing. This is a super cheesy Unitarian-vegetarian affair with a dinner attached. I am supposed to bring something I wrote. I am a complete noob. HALP. What do I wear? Black?

wear a white suit you've covered in poetic stuff all about aubergines and your love of portobello mushroom lasagne, of course!

Den

If they serve dead red BBQ'd meat I might come along to help.

Vegetarian food is for rabbits that is true.
Red meat and milk is much tastier for me and you
A vegan is only hurting their body by not having milk, eggs, and meat
A large greasy hamburger and a chocolate shake is such a nice treat.
I tried to be a poet once upon a time
But couldn't make my words co-operate!;) okay,

or rhyme!

there are several poets here who attend open-mic and/or poetry workshops. i'm sure someone will be along soon to answer you properly :rose:

I just remembered I saw a death metal show in the same building. I'm thinking I could rip off some of their lyrics and see if anyone notices.

Reflected a dull moon
Violent winds raged

A Cento!

I'll write something innocuous. They do these every Tuesday once the students are back.

I don't know who it is yet. I'm assuming it's just a small group. They have a Pakistani dinner in a few weeks I'm planning on going to also, so I need to behave myself regardless (not that I wouldn't). I obsess over stuff like this.

Can't wait to hear how you get on :)

Zombie Rock

Fall into the earth and they're happy to stay
The grace in their age is broken in weight
Cold as a stone, each new piece stands alone
Their toll is a record and dreams that escape

I can't read. What's in the bag?

Double fuck! I just read the flyer again and it's a FICTION WRITER'S' workshop. I have one short story and something I wrote yesterday... and it's tomorrow. FML :( A handful of poems and a short story over a month doesn't exactly qualify me as a fiction writer either, so this is a stretch. I'm still going though.

My mom came over to my apartment to proofread my shit yesterday and didn't die laughing, so this is getting forwarded. I think it might be good if someone (hey, me) showed up as a listener with some... supportive material? and took a few tips from the people who know what they're doing. *drops the mic* Yeah of course:

I'm floating. In space. No water.

Transparent hope that dares to float a ship with no design
It bends without breaking, shifts fixed making quick trips and keeping the time
Waves wash as wishes temper tricks only suspicious
to breath with the grace that the next will be fine

Stay positive, you CAN do this and anyway I presume you'll never see these people again so if they're a trifle bemused who's to know?!

I attended a three day event at our local University's theatre on How to present Poetry on stage. Our group performed Dylan Thomas' Go not gentle as our main piece, and my 'poem' The Garderobe.

Dylan Thomas had polite applause.

Og's Garderobe had shocked horror and giggles.

You don't see many poop poems, in fact I think this may be the only one.

This IS positive for me. I have standards. I took the long way home or I wouldn't have known about it at all (I mean I know where their "church" is). I have exactly zero friends that are vegetarian so far, however. I know two that don't eat pork.
