Interesting history actually...
It is now a state park, but the land is adjacent to a military base.
The military dumped all their garbage for years right next to the coast. The glass in a particular zone. The result is this beach of mixed broken glass.. Tumbled for 5-6 decades by the Pacific waves.

I love this thread! We took a trip to Oregon about 5 years ago, and it was the most memorable trip I've ever taken, including Italy last year. Just amazing!


These pictures blow mine away. You have a special talent in photography, as well as ropes!

Is the sea glass beach protected? I can imagine otherwise craftworker a would plunder it, or even businesses what to strip it.....imagine sea glass shingle paths in a garden!

Cascadia is a big place. You will want at least a week - if not a month to come play here.

And the sea glass beach is in a State Park. So it has some protection.

I'm wondering if that's unique. I'd be surprised if there was anywhere else like that on the Earth.

Are these your personal photos?
If so, you do know your way around a camera.
 
That's a wonderful photo. I've never seen a whale in the wild. That one must have been very close to the shore.

I am very lucky...I long ago lost count of how many whales I have seen in the wild.
Usually see a few every summer just off the shore of where I live. Both orcas and greys.
Sailing I've been very close to whales. Sometimes closer than I wanted to be.
But it never gets old. I never lose the awe of it.
The sound of a whale breathing across the water...
The distinctive odor of sea and brine of their spray.
