You assume I'm an atheist.

Probably because I see the actions of many of the Christians in the US trying to force their beliefs onto the rest of the population while simultaneously trying to play the oppressed victim because they can't enshrine ALL of their beliefs into secular Law.

I'll be concerned about Sharia law IF it ever has the ability to insert itself into U.S. law in the same way that Christian biblical law has. As for the Marrying kids, women being beaten and stoned to death, and lots of other messed up things I suggest you read The Old Testament, particularly Judges and Leviticus.

Personally, I'm overall pro-choice and I'm not religious, but I also believe in trying to see where the "other party" is coming from. Instead of clubbing them on the head or subjecting them to a firing squad.
People are not clueless rats in a maze or, alternatively, evil demons. Every belief, no matter how wrong it might sound to some, is drawn from their personal experience and their take on that.

The revised legislation now includes Senate Bill 284, which says it would "prohibit discriminatory action against a person who believes, speaks, or acts in accordance with a sincerely held religious belief or moral conviction that marriage is or should be recognized as the union of one man and one woman or that sexual relations are properly reserved to such marriage."

In other words, hate is protected as long as you hate gay people, because the bible says so.
