Good deeds done today

I had a good deed done for me, which really touched me deeply; the man who provides my hay for my horse called me up this morning and offered to bring a roll down before the storm. I told him I didn't have cash on me, and he said no problem.

I really appreciated it, because I'm out of his way, and just have the one animal. He takes care of a number of dairy operations. That he considered me and my four legged friend in this mess was amazing and kind.

I put a new hot water heater in my dads house..

I think I have him talked into letting me gut and renovate his bathroom now. :):)

That is so awesome that he has your back with the storm headed in.
I can't remember the last time that happened for me.
Treasure that neighbor!!

You my friend are just plain sneaky.... In a good way...
But still sneaky. :D

I know this probably makes me a nut ...but I've been using the random PM thread
& sending one a day to any Playground who catches my eye for doing something positive, kind & wonderful.
Just saying Thank You & please keep up the awesomeness :rose:

We always shovel for our elderly neighbors. The boys do it for the cookies, or so they say. But I know it also makes them feel good.

That's so sweet. Reminds me of the kindness in my horse shoer. :)

Bringing flowers to a neighbor who lost her husband a few months ago. I think it makes us feel more smiley than it does her. (melts....)

I have a neighbor, an elderly woman, who lost her husband about 20 years ago on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. He was raking leaves outside and suffered a heart attack. The mailman found him. Tragic.
Anyway, the following year, that weekend, I brought her flowers and herbal tea. She was so touched. We've made it an annual tradition. She makes lunch. I bring tea and flowers.

That is a great idea! The gift of being there is probably the best one for her. :rose:

I loaned a shovel to a young couple who were trying to dig out their car using the ice scrapers from their car.

Having someone's back is HUGE!

I'm looking at another surgery pretty soon and it will be the 3rd one I am facing alone. The whole dealing with everything post surgery alone is worse then the new tendons & repairs. The last 2 surgeries I have had to turn in 4 people 6 times for Medicare fraud.

People who instead of doing their jobs & being bright enough to see I am FAR from 80 CHOSE to try & get me to pay a $10 cash (fake) co pay each visit so they could pocket it. Fake paperwork and deny services because they didn't feel like it, or the staff I preferred to have wasn't a friend of theirs & they'd show me who was in charge on my case. I even had one nurse tell me to stop taking my pain meds (stiches were not even out) & told me I had to cut my long hair off really short. Seriously.

So having someone's back to get groceries in, make sure things are going smooth. I've even had to drive myself to surgery and at the last minute someone stepped up so I didn't have to drive myself home afterwards.

1 clueless person (she may have been one of the 3 local Ward councillors, in which case shame on her for the lack of local knowledge) walked with as far as the bit on the estate which she wanted to reach (the map on the sign can be a bit disorientating and hard to remember).

1 cyclist also given directions to the community hall they were trying to find (on another estate which they'd only just cycled past, uphill too).

This morning I woke up late and was rushing around...forgot my coffee and ended up going through the drive thru at McD's for a coffee. I did a pay it forward and paid for the person's coffee behind me.

So it turns out the car wreck last evening here by the park was actually someone who hit one of my neighbors. Jack was a nice really quiet older veteran who lived 2 doors down facing the park. He had just bought a quick pick for the lotto that night and was walking back home.

Saturday there is going to be a celebration of life for him at the park. So i just stepped up to haul over my tables, a couple coffee cakes, a carafe of coffee. The other neighbors are slowing finding out it was Jack that died. Not a good deed as much as a necessary human kindness to remember him. :(

Bought the person behind me in the Tim Horton's drive thru their coffee this morning

I'm going to cover a friends shift at work Thursday-Saturday so she can spend extra time with her husband who is being deployed.
