Xianpeters' pic of scything (yum!) put me in mind of Poldark - do you remember all the fuss about that? For those who don't know, it was a British costume drama last year, all soaring landscapes, bare chests and heaving bosoms. But there was a scything scene...:

And some scything association complained that his technique was rubbish and he grunted too much....

Good to see Poldark on here, Numi! We both were huge fans.

I didn't watch it, actually, although Mr Scything Guy is rather lovely.... But for me, Robin Ellis just is Poldark, and Angharad Rees is Demelza, and I'm not going to let anything spoil my memory of that...

Weirdly, though, Poldark did give rise to my mother explaining to a rather young me what bondage was, vaguely....
