I think it has to do with the negative implications of having a moist vagina. Most people (according to Google, haha) associate a moist nether region with bad smells and fungal infections, probably because of those disgusting commercials that talk about yeast infections.

Conversely, a wet vagina has typically been something that is sought after, for obvious reasons.
