This I Believe

I believe that we're as happy in life as we make up our minds to be....this l believe....

No prayer quite goes unanswered, but it helps to bear in mind that the hapless deity/deities are handling an impossibly large number of simultaneous (and incompatible) requests, and they've got a different concept of time, and their understanding of humans may be based on a very fleeting previous direct contact several centuries ago. :(

I believe we are who and what we are because of all the people who have touched our lives. I also believe the only immortality we can really be sure of ,is living on in the way we have touched and shaped the lives of others.
For me, I want those touches to be positive. Building up. Adding to a life.
And I'm grateful for those who have helped create my "me."

I believe people are flawed and doing the best they can so it is best to keep that in mind and try to forgive them when they seem to fall short.
I believe in generosity. Of spirit. Of life. Of laughter. Of what I have and you don't.
I believe life is too short to be angry or to hold a grudge.
I believe painting a whole group of people with a single brush stroke is a disservice to both them and you. Them, because such generalities don't hold up under scrutiny; and you because you deprive yourself the opportunity to learn about people and things that would otherwise enrich your life.
I believe that art enriches your soul.
I believe every person is worthy of love.
I believe that every person I come in contact with has something to teach me.
I hope that I have something to teach them.
I believe the universe is much bigger and grander and more resilient and more fragile and smaller than any of us think.
I believe hugs are healing.
My dog rescued me as much as I rescued him.
It is impossible to have true love without also trust and respect.
That love is a form of magic.
That the words we use matter.
That I will be learning and growing and figuring shit out until the day I day.
That silence is golden.
That the sounds of the forest will fill your ears and your soul if you have ears to hear.

I believe all these things as well. Especially those in bold

I believe Christmas is used by some people to make them feel better about themselves, because they think they've been so generous and kind. The reality couldn't be farther from the truth.

I believe people are flawed and doing the best they can so it is best to keep that in mind and try to forgive them when they seem to fall short.

I believe that this does not excuse people from always doing their best.
People can and should do better. I believe that all things can be improved.
But I believe that we do not know what burdens others carry. What hurts they have suffered.

I believe that no one knows what is true inside of a marriage except for the two people in it. And sometimes even they don't.

I believe if a garden/yard does not give you more joy than it is work to care for, than you should revisit what you are doing with it.

I believe most things are better in moderation.

I believe you cannot have too much love.

I believe we never truly know the impact that we have on others. Things said so thoughtlessly can scar another for a lifetime.

You are strong, you are beautiful and worthy. Believe it. Feel it. Be it.... Don't allow anyone to make you feel differently. This l believe.

I believe I have a purpose here on Earth that justifies my existence...I just wish I could pinpoint it.. *heavy sigh*

Perhaps your purpose is for others to discover and not your own...

Sometimes, I think it's best to just believe you have a calling or purpose and feel like you are serving said purpose even if it's not clear to you. At least in my experience.

This I believe...

I also believe we ALL have value to others. Everyone is important. Everyone has worth. Sometimes we don't see it in ourselves. But others do. As you did for me today.

Thank you...

I believe this year will hold more progress than last year. In many facets of my life.
