Every time a black kid is shot, the immediate story is that he was innocent, gentle, a pillar of the community and that he was executed by the white cop for being black. The icing on that cake is the meme of White Privilege. That is, in essence, that which I have come to call "The Story."

When Skip Gates provoked the Cambridge Cops, President Obama's immediate reaction was to use the Story as confirmation bias in pronouncing that the cops behaved "stupidly."

It's a very bittersweet story and the cop definitely deserves the recognition he's getting for it. Most cops are nice like that. They might not all go that far but they're nice and they're just trying to do a nearly impossible job. Real bummer that the few bad ones make people think they're all bad.
The two that killed the little kid for apparently no reason, they are rightfully going to prison and hopefully they rot there but that's what people are seeing now when a cop drives by or pulls you over.
