Curious, how many times have you seen something that has spurred you to act? For example, seeing someone homeless and decide to go help at a shelter. Or have an interaction with a mentally disadvantaged person and give some money to the service that helps them live more independently. Or learning that a friend is sick and donating to help fund research for a cure.

I'm not asking about general philanthropic actions but those times when you were motivated to act.

A couple of weeks ago, I had an elderly patient admitted to the hospital. While walking her to the bathroom, I noticed this "thing" around her waist - held together by about 8 safety pins and clusters of lint. It was her bra.. nearly as old as she was. She shared that she lost a lot of weight since becoming ill and her bra just kind of lived around her belly. "I just can't bring myself to go without," she shared. We couldn't get it off without tearing some of the lint and it nearly fell apart in my hands. To look at her, you could tell that she led a frugal life, either by choice or by necessity, and it broke my heart that she was so embarrassed about her undergarments. After work that night, I purchased two bras for her and took them to the hospital in the morning. They were microfiber, stretchy, a little easier for her to manage.. and it was so sweet to see her feel like a lady again instead of a lost woman in a broken body

So.... I put the call out and we collected $6,4000 worth of tampons, pads, wipes and chocolate frogs (because chocolate!) for this charity to distribute. It felt good to know some women had it just a tiny bit easier and some dignity restored in their lives for just a moment.

I've been a volunteer breastfeeding counsellor for the last 16 years. A lot of new mums just need the reassurance that what they are experiencing is normal or tips on how to cope. Without support many wouldn't be able to meet their goals. I probably give about 10 - 12 hours of my time a month.
I was moved to act after seeing the unethical practices that formula companies use to promote their product and undermine the confidence of women.
Its nice to talk to a woman who rings you in tears and have her leave the call feeling in charge and having a plan of action in her mind.
On a personal level I recently gave my alcoholic, dysfunctional single mum neighbour a bunch of flowers to brighten her day. I try to make people feel special when I can.

There have been some dramatic unfolding a here on the board as of late. Personally, I enjoy watching drama unfold. Sometimes the situations really suck though.

When drama unfolds, do you tend to avoid reading it? Do you read in silence, like a bush masturbator wanks in silence? Or do you read it, get in and poke the bear?

Personally, if it's GB drama, I like to poke the bear. I'm never actually a part of it. But man, I enjoy prodding them and messing with them.

Sort of a part two to the question... Have you ever been involved in any drama? If so, was it miserable or did you like the attention? I personally like attention, but dear god, not of the dramatic variety. Ewwwwwww.

I was dragged into something when I first started here when someone decided to make me their pet project. It was very uncomfortable and not something id like to repeat.
