Cannolloni was along the same wave of reasoning ... just more subtle and possibly nicer than this non-Italian made cazzetti :D

Yeah, I know... Still makes me laugh :D

I like that you wanted to show your, er, cannelloni, in my boudoir though *giggles*

Since I know you care about grammar it would be my ... er ... cannellonE

:D

Just peeking in ... very nice read through the thread. I enjoy your sense of humor with pasta play on old stogie relatives ... :)

Oh! Is it one cannellona? I didn't know that... Or are we in slang territory here? ;)

I have to say, I am attempting to break my country's habit of using the word 'panini' to refer to a single sandwich. But it is a terribly slow job... I have recruited several colleagues to this campaign, and one recently emailed a well-known food outlet to complain. I was so proud!

In return, I would like you to stop your countryfolk from using the phrase 'Can I get' when asking for something in English. No - the server can get it for you, and then you can have it, but unless you actually go into the kitchen, you can't get, no...

Phew. Rant over...

So, okay ... *sweats* ... cannellone is masculin singular, cannelloni is plural ... cannellona is unheard of :D

I could only say that you should consider yourself lucky to have found an annoying number of Italians asking "Can I get?" ... we're talking of an already outstanding level of English, as opposed to a vast majority of humans miming all sorts of grabbing gestures and uttering single words as "me" "take" "that" ;)

Puts on nerd hat. But.... weren't there two in the picture? ;) God, I'm such a pedant... *blushes*

Oh no, it's not just Italians. It's everyone... *sigh*. Don't think I'm going to win this one...

It's nearly as important as the panini campaign, though. And worse, sometimes, paninis, and then even worse panini's. (Feel a bit queasy now...) In fact my man has been known to rub the extra S off a blackboard when no-one is looking... One small step at a time... :)

If someone says "Can I get a panini" in my presence, well, you don't want to see that, you really don't...

I am literally laughing out loud *thumbs up*

Well done Mr Horneblende (apologies for my possible typo)

I actually learned in the States that panini (plural ... ugh) is a sandwich heated in the toaster

This requires a single post :D

There were two in the picture; hence I wrote cannelloni

But I only have one to show, so I wrote cannellone (where -e is usually the feminine plural ending but also, less often, the masculin singular)

I hope it makes more sense now

Good afternoon Sexy, Can I get a panini? Thanks, I'm famished

Good morning Nume, Hope you and Hornblende had a fantastic time last night at the hotel.

Oh, it was lovely... Beautiful meal, lovely surroundings. And we slept til 9am this morning, had to get up in a panic do as not to miss breakfast... :D

That's when you throw on sweats and a bun and make a run for it. :)

Glad you guys had a wonderful time.

Aha, right. I was clearly focussing more on the meaty ones than... Er... I'm making it worse again now, right...?

Hey, what are you doing with that? Give it back :eek::eek:

Nope. This is what you 'get' when you ask for a panini...

I so wish I could use this in my campaigns... I'm sure it would be so much more effective

*laughs*

How is it over there today? Horrid here, definitely a light the fire and vegetate afternoon....

One wouldn't believe it ... a sunny 19°C day  :)

Too bad I am spending the afternoon buried in my office room

Hiya Sweetie

In my neck of USA its sunny, and it will probably reach 80 degrees.

Gotta run, Hugs :)

What? You have 19°C? Wow... So cloudy here it's practically dark already.

Who, er, buried you in your office? ;)
