If you want crunch in your peanut butter sandwich, add potato chips.
Crunchy peanut butter is made either first thing Monday morning when they're still hungover or last thing Friday when they're trying to get off work early.

And another thing: although whole wheat bread can be delicious and nutty, PB&J belongs on white bread.
If you happen to have some warm homemade whole wheat bread you can put peanut butter on it but then you have to top it with honey and you can only eat it open face. Else, too much bread.

Texture issues aside, if one cannot find jam with seeds, peanut butter and savory is delicious. I recommend an open-faced peanut butter sandwich on toast sprinkled with Cavendish Greek seasoning.
Salt and chili powder is good too.

Oh, yes. The salt. I can imagine that'd be a nice addition. Super crunchy bacon, though. I can't stand it when it jiggles.
Now that is a combo I would never have thought to try.
Let's split the difference and use whipped cream.
