The Gross.. Guilty food thread

my goodness, aqua. i am stealing that recipe.

as for my gross, i went to a town festival this weekend and tried a bit of fair food. hand cut fries topped in chopped brisket, nacho cheese and bbq sauce. holy fuck. if the fries hadn't been seasoned for a smoker, they'd have been amazing. as they were i could only have a few bites. probably for the best though.

I never feel guilty about foods. I don't eat endangered species.
I sometimes regret having food I should know better about having when I get a reaction.
I suppose if they end me up in the ER I would feel guilty about the person who had to spend 8 hrs with me there.

It's like sex, I don't get why food is guilty or sex naughty, why is it wrong for people to want to eat tasty things or have mind blowing sex?

:D

yes! It doesn't have to be chunky.. its just what I usually buy nowa days. AND if I may be a little picky here.. don't go for the special ham.. simple smoked ham will do. Honey ham or brown sugar ham or pineapple ham or John hamm are not good.. just plain ol ham.

Do you think Canadian bacon would work?

I drank maple syrup straight from the bottle this weekend.

You do that, too?

I've drank A1 straight from the bottle..

try smoked ham rolled around cream cheese triangles

ooh, what about celery sticks, filled with cream cheese, eaten after dipping in crunchy peanu... hmmn, i'm stuck on crunch peanut butter i guess

Things that were served at parties in my youth: celery sticks spread with peanut butter, celery sticks spread with cream cheese, and dill pickles rolled up in cream cheese coated ham before being chilled and sliced.

My favorite job? Slicing the pickles. I got to eat all the ends, because they don't look like a proper slice.

I couldn't find my smoke, but I made it anyway and added a little pepper. The jalapeños are pickled. Doritos are a little on the wimpy side, but that's all I had.

And you gave me shit for Doritos on taco pizza... For shame!

That does look good tho.

Yes! Pickles and cream cheese are like the Midwestern caviar..

I'm sure Canadian bacon would do just fine.. But do you really want eating anything Canadian on your conscious??

Oh, I've already done far more than that with Canadian things, so my conscience is already beyond repair.

hmm

My gross or guilty craving would be a couple things. Love lemons with salt, ketchup on the white part of the egg and pepper on cottage cheese and salt on raw rhubarb.

a couple of cold beers on the side and heaven

I am more of a salt craver...

I like saltines, crushed and covered with pickle brine from dill pickles.

I brought a box of saltines with me to this den. As I am going through the cache of canned goods and whatnot that were laid in 5-6 years ago I found an unopened jar of peanut butter in the fridge. With a little stir, it is just fine. I have been eating it on saltines with a generous sprinkling of Tajin Classico Seasoning. I think you would like it.

I suspect Aqua would know this stuff. It is a chili-lime seasoning mix available in the little mercados.

I have some Tajin; I'll have to try it with peanut butter. Don't eat saltines, though, so I'll need to find a substitute for that.

A year or two ago, I made something, don't remember what, that had a bread crumb topping: panko bread crumbs, grated parmesan, olive oil, and a bit of pepper. I made the mistake of tasting it before adding it to whatever it was that I was making. Occasionally, I mix up a small batch in a coffee mug (portion control lol), and eat it with a spoon.

I first had Tajin in Mexico... This little grass hut with a bar.. Fucking hands down best Bloody Marys' I have ever had! We drank like 200 of them. then gave a small Mariachi band $50 to play what they wanted to play.. No tourist specials. They followed us around all day, playing what they loved. We had the bar tender translate the songs for awhile.. I learned to appreciate that music then. Mostly it was heartbreaking songs with gorgeous bass lines and accompaniment...

We Were Kings was the first one they played.
