An experienced Dom will secure you then leave you like that for some time, a half hour or so. This allows the sub to get into "sub space", that place where your mind will fully appreciate what be is doing to you.

It is a difficult time. Thoughts run around and around...what will he do...can I take it...oh God I wish hed hurry and get to it, get it over with...

I loved being left tied up for a long time. Waiting, and having to have patience, was more tormenting than knowing I was about to be punished. My Dom would leave the room with no indication of when he'd be back. He never left the flat when I was tied up, but maybe that would have been an interesting idea.
