Will America’s Feminization of Men Impede Its Ability to Defend Itself?

A reader poses an interesting question:

Dr. Helen,

Do you ever think or worry (not that this is the right way to couch it) that where we are going with the feminizing of males, vs. the world at large, i.e. ISIS etc. what the long term implications are for America?

I spent 6 years in the military, enjoyed every minute of it and never a second thought would we ever be in a place where I was actually concerned about the country’s ability to defend itself. I’m not so sure I’m there anymore. Being a male is not so easy.

Thoughts?

I worry about this defense question often when thinking about what is happening politically in the larger world and with our military and culture in general. Here are a few of my thoughts: As the U.S. military becomes more and more PC, will it discourage more masculine men from joining up? And if more masculine men join, will they be so hindered by PC rules and regulations that they will become discouraged, and simply give up on defending the country? Or will they be punished if they try to do the right thing in terms of defense, thus making what might be a good tactical move one that is hindered by politics?

As for men in general, are we becoming a nation so used to the easy life that no one has much fight left in them to defend anything except a bag of Cheetos? Not that individual men have a duty to defend the country, but if no one wants to or can, then where does that leave our republic? And maybe women should be held just as liable and serve in whatever capacity they can?

I am reading a copy of Tod Lindberg’s new book titled The Heroic Heart: Greatness Ancient and Modern and he has some insightful thoughts. Lindberg says that we enjoy a measure of peace and personal security unknown to mankind before modern times. “Instead of preparing mentally and physically for the inevitable recurrence of times of strife, we can take to our couches and busy ourselves with the enjoyment of the leisure time the modern world generously allows us.”

Lindberg makes the point that we watch heroes on TV or video games and maybe even get wild and coach a Little League game if extremely motivated — but what happens if an “old-school slaying hero” decides to “…conquer the world, that is, our world–to conquer and subjugate us”?

Good question. I don’t have all the answers but one thing I know is that to take the hero out of men (and women) and to replace it with complacency and submissiveness is definitely not the answer. It is a road to destruction

Let's face it...

;)

Our future wars will be fought by teens eating Cheetos in front of big screens with game consoles directing drones into enemy fire.

;) ;)

Unless, of course, if the JV EMPs us, in which case, Americans will toughen up quickly or die.

This is number 12 Busybody.

Not the road to destruction, the Socialist "Road to Serfdom."

It's so HARD to be a man..

For fuck's sake.. What kind of moron thinks men have it tough in this world?
he military is too PC? Jesus Christ on a fucking crutch.

Here's a little test for you, substitute "treating people with dignity and respect" anywhere you would use "PC".

I know what you're thinking, "Oh my god, that's treating other people with dignity and respect gone mad!"

No we shouldn't ban transgender....but we shouldn't pay for their guppy tuck or give them a bunch of special fucking treatment like we have in a variety of other cases. It's not relevant....It's not about treating people with dignity and respect.

It's about the continual degradation of standards.....sorry I'll used the liburhul term...."Reconsideration of standards to be more inclusive/diverse." lol

Or as I like to put it, shitting on winners to make the losers feel good about themselves.

There should be 1 standard, the job....make the cut, fail and become the military's ass wipe or quit and go home with your tail tucked and live with that shame for the rest of your life.

pfft....like that will happen

Woman to become NY firefighter despite failing crucial fitness test
y
The FDNY for the first time in its history will allow someone who failed its crucial physical fitness test to join the Bravest, The Post has learned.

Rebecca Wax, 33, is set to graduate Tuesday from the Fire Academy without passing the Functional Skills Training test, a grueling obstacle course of job-related tasks performed in full gear with a limited air supply, an insider has revealed.

“They’re going to allow the first person to graduate without passing because this administration has lowered the standard,” said the insider, who is familiar with the training.

Upon graduation, Wax would be assigned to a firehouse and tasked with the full duties of a firefighter.

Some FDNY members are angry.

“We’re being asked to go into a fire with someone who isn’t 100 percent qualified,” the source said. “Our job is a team effort. If there’s a weak link in the chain, either civilians or our members can die.”

Wax’s graduation comes as the city celebrates the FDNY’s 150th anniversary and as the department is under pressure by the de Blasio administration to hire more women.

Only 44 of the FDNY’s 10,500 firefighters are female.

While Wax fell short, two other female probies in the graduating class passed the FST with flying colors.

“They’re kicking butt. They’re doing better than 50 percent of the class,” the insider said. “When they get assigned to a firehouse, they’ll be welcomed with open arms because they’ve done what everyone else has gone through.”

Other female firefighters aren’t pleased about Wax’s treatment, either.

“A lot of the girls in the field are pissed because they feel like they’re getting lumped into the same category of a female getting special treatment and not meeting the same standards as the males,” the insider added. “It devalues what the women in the field have accomplished.”

“WE’RE BEING ASKED TO GO INTO A FIRE WITH SOMEONE WHO ISN’T 100 PERCENT QUALIFIED. OUR JOB IS A TEAM EFFORT. IF THERE’S A WEAK LINK IN THE CHAIN, EITHER CIVILIANS OR OUR MEMBERS CAN DIE.”

In the FST exam, probies must breathe through a mask attached to an air tank while carrying up to 50 pounds of gear.

They must climb six flights of stairs, stretch hose lines, raise ladders, perform tasks that simulate breaking doors and pulling down ceilings, and drag dummies through tunnels with no visibility.

They must complete the course in 17 minutes, 50 seconds or less.
Despite many attempts over the Fire Academy’s 18-week training course, Wax completed the test just once — but it took her more than 22 minutes, the source said.

In numerous tries, Wax struggled and was too slow. While fit probies finish with air left in their tanks, she had to stop when hers ran out, the source added.
“She’s in the best shape of her life, and it’s still not good enough,” he said.

Under the FDNY’s new hiring policy, probies must earn at least 75 percent on the combined requirements of academics, hands-on skills and physical fitness.

Wax had a high grade-point average on her academics, which officials determined offset her FST deficiency, the insider said.

Last December, Fire Commissioner Daniel Nigro told a City Council hearing on the FDNY’s efforts to recruit women that he had changed FST requirements to lower obstacles.

“We still grade the people. You can still fail it if you go beyond the time, but you’re not automatically failed from the program,” he said.

He also indicated he wanted to act before a possible sex discrimination lawsuit after the city paid $98 million to settle a lawsuit that accused the FDNY of discriminating against minorities.
“We must no longer wait for a judge’s ruling to tell us what fairness means,” Nigro said.

United Women Firefighters, an organization of FDNY women, objects to the FST test, contending it unfairly bars females.

The FST requires a much higher level of fitness than the Candidate Physical Ability Test, which applicants must pass to enter the academy.

Experts say the FST mirrors the demands of the job, training would-be firefighters to work in stressful environments while conserving their air supply
.
Wax had previously received another break to join the FDNY after pleading in June 2011 for a City Council bill that raised the age limit from 29 to 35 for applicants like her who first took the entrance exam in 2007. A hiring freeze imposed by federal Judge Nicholas Garaufis in the discrimination suit put them in limbo.

“I want nothing more than to be a New York City firefighter,” Wax, then 29, had testified at a hearing.

Wax has worked as a civilian FDNY employee since 2009, lately as a community coordinator, making $52,338 last year.

Reached outside her Upper East Side apartment Friday, she would not speak to a reporter.

Nigro, questioned by The Post during an FDNY anniversary celebration at a Midtown firehouse Saturday, refused to comment on Wax’s fitness failure.

“Every one of our 305 probies have passed and will be graduating Tuesday,” he said. “She has met the requirements.”

The probationary class started with 320 recruits, meaning 15 dropped out or must retake the course.

New York Firefighters Claim Probationary Colleague Won't Do His Job

By Amanda Andrade-Rhoades, Mon, May 18, 2015
Firefighters at Engine Company 257 in Brooklyn, New York, have accused a probationary colleague of shirking his duties and blamed his employment on FDNY diversity policies.

Michael D. Johnson, 41, who is black, has allegedly failed to enter burning buildings when ordered to do so, earning him the nickname “Tragic Johnson,” according to the New York Post.

On April 2, Johnson’s captain feared he’d gone missing in a three-alarm blaze and radioed “mayday,” indicating he might be in danger. Johnson had been assigned backup duty and required to help carry a water hose into the two-story building. It turns out Johnson had been at the curb and told his colleagues he was refilling his air tank, although sources said he never entered the building and shouldn’t have been low on oxygen.

“It can’t be ignored,” a source told the New York Post. “If they ignore it, some civilian will end up injured or killed, or a fireman will be injured or killed.”

Another source added: “Everyone is concerned about working with him. We’re concerned for our safety, but we’re also concerned for his safety.”

Johnson joined the FDNY after a federal judge ruled he, along with 281 other applicants, be hired to increase minorities in the department. Though sources have said the other "priority hires" have proven exemplary firefighters, Johnson took three attempts to pass the Fire Academy.

“He’s a nice enough person, but he’s certainly lacking in the ability to put himself in harm’s way,” a source said.

After the incident on April 2, Johnson was ordered to attend retraining, FDNY confirmed. Johnson, a decorated former EMT, reportedly wanted to leave the firehouse, but he was ordered to return.

“The department seems to not want to give a f**k about any of this because they want to fill their quota,” a source said.

Johnson refused to discuss his performance. “The captain never said anything to me,” he said. "I have to go to my station and ask them what they’re talking about. So many things could be said and not be true."

FDNY spokesman Jim Long also refused to comment on Johnson’s record. “Probationary firefighters receiving additional training, or going back for retraining, is a normal practice in the department,” he said.

Johnson, who is on probation for another two weeks, is still under evaluation.

Bureaucrats Plan to Destroy Special Forces With Affirmative Action

Hopefully we won’t be needing our special forces for long, because it won’t take liberals long to use Affirmative Action to destroy them:

Elite units in the military are by and large both white and male. Pentagon officials, however, are hoping for a major demographic shift, citing the benefits of diversity…

The benefits of diversity, which is an antonym for indispensable cohesion, are either political or fictional.

Data provided by each individual service to USA Today illustrates current disparities, which are most prominent in units like the Navy SEALs and the Army’s Green Berets. For instance, in the Army, blacks comprised 17 percent of the force in 2013, a figure slightly higher than their representation in the overall population. As the ranks start climbing, the numbers shift. Blacks amount to only 9.4 percent of officers in the military.

Since we are not allowed to mention the word “aptitude,” the only possible explanation is imaginary racism, which can only be fixed by inflicting real racism against more qualified whites.

In the Navy SEALs, just 2 percent are black, while Native Americans make up about 4 percent, or 99 SEALs.

Only 5.6 percent of enlisted Green Berets are black. But in the Air Force, among para-rescuers, the number drops even further down to .6 percent.

The Pentagon considers this to be a problem.

Obama has had years now to purge the Pentagon of soldiers who care about real problems, like our radically diminished capacity to win the sort of wars Obama’s projection of weakness is likely to force us to fight in the future.

The Pentagon in general has made bolstering diversity a major priority in the last several years, with Defense Secretary Ash Carter leading the charge with public pronouncements about the benefits of a diverse force and a recent decision to review the ban on transgender servicemembers.

You can’t blame Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping, Ali Khamenei, and Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi for snickering gleefully.

The military, Carter has argued, needs to reflect the demographic makeup of the future.

That is, the white minority, homosexualized future our liberal ruling class has planned for us.

As such, the services have made a concerted effort to favor minorities, assigning more weight to race when considering officer promotions.

The effect on morale and retention of letting it be known that promotions are largely based on not being a non–cross-dressing white male should be obvious.

“Diversity makes us a better fighting force,” a senior defense official told USA Today. “It’s not simply a question of equity.”

What utter equum stercoris.

A country that has rejected the concept of merit in favor of political correctness is not going to be winning wars for very long
