Let's say they won. Even if they lost, of course you had control. What if your entire neighborhood felt that way, that they had no control?

It's a very hard thing to do, I know, to get people who normally don't vote to start voting.

My one vote against millions? That's control? Voting just make people feel like they made a difference, but in reality they didn't.

Good for your Aunt, because it hasn't been that long at all. Only since 1965. Not only did people fight, people died. So you almost came to blows, rather than registering to vote, and asking her opinion on who to vote for? I bet she knew who was running for city council.

I bet she did too. I just don't worry about that stuff. Whoever win isn't going to affect my life individually. I been living this same life no matter who the president, mayor or "city council " was. Us street guys get no love. So why even brother?

Thing you do with votes is organize them so that they have a larger impact. Kind of like, say, organizing a gang. (And it's not entirely a joking comparison. Many early New York street gangs organized at least in part to impact elections. Same thing happened elsewhere, like Jamaica for example.)

Do you know that you can't even smoke in jail anymore? And that's fucked up. I got to lived in that stressful ass dungeon, and I can't even enjoy a cigarette? They don't even give out degrees in prison anymore. (Not that I listen ) But I'm pretty sure that no candidate ever brought that up. Why? Because they don't give a fuck. All they want to do is make life easier for the rich and successful, but harder for the broke and unprivileged. And that's what I care about. So why would I vote for a fucker that doesn't? Us street guys don't get any love in politics, so I don't play them. We're all savages in their eyes, so I rather not be seen.

Obey the rules or give up smoking Smooty.

I had a big argument about voting with my aunt. It got to the point that I almost fought her son. She talked all that shit about how blacks fought for the privilege to vote, and me not using it is a slap in the face to my ancestors. I told her what I'm telling you, I don't give a fuck about politics. Felons can't vote just tells me that my vote really doesn't matter. So why waste my time?

Felons can vote in many states and I believe in federal elections once their entire sentence has been served. I'm married to a felon, I had to do a little bit of research but it wasn't hard to find. It goes back to me being upset with lazy people. You get caught, you do the time, it's up to you to figure out your civil rights after you're done.

It's so hard for me to wrap my mind around someone enjoying their miserable life. No goals to achieve, just wretched belief that since your life will never change why bother?

No life changes without action. If you want to live and die being oppressed then just keep doing exactly what you have been doing. Nothing.

I want a better world for my children. I am raising better children for this world. Those are my goals.

That and I want to buy a Tesla.

In my head, I immediately heard, "I'm love with a stripper."

I can imagine the food on the USS Enterprise in 2437 will look and taste like stuff I ate last night.

I was working up to that, but hit an impasse. :D

This is just not true. There are plenty of politicians that want changes to our criminal justice system.

http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2015/jul/16/barack-obama-prison-tour-criminal-justice-race-reform

“When they described their youth and their childhood, these are young people who made mistakes that aren’t that different than the mistakes I made and the mistakes a lot of you guys made,” Obama said.

“The difference is they did not have the kind of support structures, the second chances, the resources that would allow them to survive those mistakes.”

“So many young people end up in our criminal justice system – it’s not normal. It’s not what happens in other countries. What is normal is teenagers doing stupid things, what is normal is young people making mistakes, and we’ve got to be able to distinguish between dangerous individuals who need to be incapacitated and incarcerated versus young people who are in an environment in which they are adapting, but given different opportunities and a different vision of life could be thriving the way we are.

“That’s what strikes me,” he concluded, somberly. “There but for the grace of God.”

Addressing the group in Philadelphia, the president spoke bluntly of a deep-rooted discrimination against minorities that he said ranged from the justice system to everyday life, dubbing it “a crisis” that can no longer be ignored.

“The bottom line is that in too many places, black boys and black men, Latino boys and Latino men experience being treated differently under the law,” Obama said, citing statistics showing that 60% of the nation’s inmates are black and Hispanic even though both demographics combined make up just 30% of the population.

“By just about every measure, the life chances for black and Hispanic youth still lag far behind those of their white peers,” he said. “Our kids, America’s children, so often are isolated, without hope, less likely to graduate from high school, less likely to earn a college degree, less likely to be employed, less likely to have health insurance, less likely to own a home.”

The president called for lowering – if not ending – mandatory minimum sentences for nonviolent drug offenses, restoring the voting rights of ex-felons, revisiting hiring practices that require applicants to list criminal activity, and expanding job training programs so inmates are better prepared to reintegrate into society.

Good God another King Arthur movie? Seriously how many times do they need to tell the same story?

Man, Phantom really let his thread get out of hand last night. He needs to tighten this joint up.
