I've posted before about my need to experiment and try the lifestyle. But I was married at the time. He had no interest in it and I didn't want to be labeled as a cheater so I never pursued it. Now that I'm almost single I've thought about attending some local munches and events. I am on fetlife and its overwhelming. There are some events this weekend but it's scary. To walk in a place all alone....it's been a long time.

It is intimidating. I found several wonderful Fetsters. We started with lunches and vanilla hangouts and then when we got the nerve, we went to a munch. Great fun and people are so open and friendly. You'll fit right in because everyone is so different.

Maybe see if you can befriend someone that is attending the event - preferably another woman or someone non-sexual, so it's just a person that you can sort of use as your home base until you start to feel less intimidated.

Munches are a great way to dip your toes in the pool. Most of them are held at a public place (typically a restaurant...hence the term munch) and obvious non-vanilla stuff is generally discouraged. Follow the Fet board for the munch for a bit, if you can, and see if there's someone who posts who you might feel comfortable with. Or, message the munch organizer and ask if they could give you a buddy for your first time or so.

Message the munch organizer and ask if they have greeters or hosts who can help shepard you around. A lot of munches have people who's main purpose is to help newcomers feel comfortable - otherwise the same old people would show up every time, and the group would eventually wither and die.
