Stuff

the ph is pronounced as an f. Unless the word telephone is pronounced telep hone where you come from.

Or unless what's involved is clearly a descriptive name comprised of the words "damp" and "hair."

Likewise Griphook the Goblin in Harry Potter is presumably not pronounced "grifook."

Impressive nerding!

and there was me thinking it a literary play in order to get both the visual of damp hair and the sounds of damn fair.... :)

It's weird listening to the audio versions, I have no idea how half of the names are spelled.

In this case, though, he's a priest to the Drowned God and everything is about water, drowning...

His rites are to physically drown initiates and then revive them. It is a nickname, so Damfair made no damf sense.

Damphair disapproves.

He's frowning at you and you don't even deserve to be offered to the Drowned God.

There's a facepalm.

yeah, not read Winds of Winter or the forthcoming A dream of Spring yet

Considering my reaction to the last several pages of the last book were "Oh come on, man, Fuck You, why did you have to go and..."

I'm still going to read it when it comes out, probably sometime between 2017 and 2020 if I am still alive.

Art History for Today

"June 7th, 1942: Edward Hopper completes his best known painting, the seminal Nighthawks. When asked by a Chicago Tribute reporter about the philosophical meaning behind the diner having no clearly visible exits Hopper responded, “Shit. Fuck. I did it again. Goddamnit. Fuck. Not again. I did it again. Shit.” and slammed his hat on his leg."

He was clearly thinking, "I forgot the anteater." Luckily that mistake would one day be rectified. Thanks Internet:

Reci!!! *rushes through the door, trips over an ottoman*

I found something! I am so excited! I am salivating!

I want this: https://www.lulu.com/

That's right. Book quality, cheap printing! For drafts! That way when your editors/beta readers look at it, they can feel like they're reading an actual book!

Edit: CreateSpace is the better bargain, as shown from that blog article. I just posted the Lulu because it came with a pic and I only read half the article before linking. Like, literal stars in my eyes, seeing a real looking book and it's a draft, like, fuck!

*whines and gropes the air*

Want it....

That is so cool! And I do need it, my son said just a few days ago that he wants to self publish. So far there are two projects of my own that might fit.
