A proud, bootstrappy Murican didn't need no Obamacare for hisself or his family, he made a good salary dammit and could afford to pay his medical bills. Bought himself a nice $300,000 house with the savings!

Except....except....now he's going blind (chronic bleeding of optic nerve), and that $10K he had put aside for medical murgencies is exhausted. NOW, it's that Negro President's fault that he can't buy no health insurance now that he's sick.

The whole sordid story made me think of our own Son Of The Serial Child Killer Ishmael (VatAss), who last year said just about the same God damned thing: he "loved" his daughters, but he wasn't gonna insure them because he was a Murican who Made A Good Salary.

Let's hope HIS poor daughters don't go blind due to his incompetent parenting...

The smokers, obese, alcoholics and drug users never have to change because they'll keep siphoning money from me and everyone else.

Thus, the continuing plague of medical problems grows in this country and rather than telling people to get their act together, we coddle them by saying, "Don't worry, you never have change your lifestyle choices. Keep on doing what you're doing, everyone else will pick up the tab."

Being forced to hand over your money and getting nothing in return is a surefire way of going broke.

Apparently you forget the attack of September 11, 2001. Then again, considering the money we've spent on the military and intelligence services one could rightly claim we've been forced to shell out money for something and getting nothing in return.

That said, and I have stated this on other forums on this subject, when asked if I would be willing to sign away every medical treatment should I need it and not be able to afford it in exchange for not having to pay insurance every again I have said yes.

The problem is when I say this, people stop and think, "Huh. This guy called my bluff. Now what?" Then they go into some long-winded rambling about how I can't do that, how I shouldn't be allowed to do that and every other reason why I shouldn't be able to do with my life what I want.

Oddly, this is the same reasoning they use when claiming they should be able to smoke weed. Apparently it's okay for them to want to do what they want with their life while having others pick up the tab for their medical care despite their poor choice, but it's not okay for me to do what I want with my life without having to rely on anyone else.

For example, I have had to listen to numerous people whine about how they don't have enough money to do this or that. Apparently having the biggest tv package which they don't use, a cell phone plan which does more than what they need and driving a 12 mpg SUV for the three miles to the grocery store every day never enter into the picture of their finances.

I once calculated for someone how much money they spend every year on cigarettes. It came out to well over $1K per year. Now common sense would say that grand could be spent/used more wisely elsewhere but nope, they were gonna keep on smoking which in turn led to them being repeatedly sick or under the weather and of course needing medical care. Again, common sense never entered into the picture.

If people can't take care of themselves first, they shouldn't expect me, or anyone else, to do it for them.

I didn't forget 9/11. First however I live in LA (or close enough) so that didn't happen to me it happened to someone else. Which is the crux of this conversation no? Second tell me again how the military prevented that. Not perhaps avenged it after the fact but how they prevented it because as I recall the only prevention that went on at all was done by civilians. So even before we talk about the trillions we've spent I'm still pouring money down a hole and getting shit in return by your logic.

You didn't call their bluff. It cannot be a personal choice, it has to be universal across the society. You have to not just decide for yourself but for other people because when you're in the emergency room there is no guarantee that you had your wallet on you at that exact time.

Weed doesn't seem to be harmful to ones health by the by especially compared to other things. But that's an entirely different subject.

I don't know what you've been smoking to think that stopping smoking and saving your pennies is going to come anywhere close to covering the medical bills people get slapped with in the real world.
