Sad, sad story

A proud, bootstrappy Murican didn't need no Obamacare for hisself or his family, he made a good salary dammit and could afford to pay his medical bills. Bought himself a nice $300,000 house with the savings!

Except....except....now he's going blind (chronic bleeding of optic nerve), and that $10K he had put aside for medical murgencies is exhausted. NOW, it's that Negro President's fault that he can't buy no health insurance now that he's sick.

The whole sordid story made me think of our own Son Of The Serial Child Killer Ishmael (VatAss), who last year said just about the same God damned thing: he "loved" his daughters, but he wasn't gonna insure them because he was a Murican who Made A Good Salary.

Let's hope HIS poor daughters don't go blind due to his incompetent parenting...

Because one story proves . . . um, hang on. It proves . . . it proves the guy couldn't manage his finances correctly.

For every one story like this there are 20 other people who are being forced to hand over their money to a private company and get nothing in return. All that's happening to them is they aren't able to save money for a rainy day, for their retirement, for vacation or anything else because of the thousands of dollars they're forced to pour down a black hole.

No there really aren't. Everybody gets sick eventually and people don't save money in the real world. In fact most can't.

I love this part...

"Lang is a self-employed handyman who works with banks and the federal government on maintaining foreclosed properties."

Just like every boot strappy "I don't need no fuckin welfare or god damn gubbmint!!" good ol' boah and his banker buddies.....suckin' on uncle sams tit.

He should write to his Congressman for help.

Gotta repeal that Obamacare!!

You totally lost every conservative in the threat at that point...

Health Insurance is soooooooooooooooooo unfair, right?

Of course, if we had Single Payer, we wouldn't be in this predicament.

But we don't, so we are.

Or maybe people should be able to decide whether or not to buy insurance for themselves.

Your position always comes up in situations like this: I'm supposed to shell out money to take care of someone else's sorry ass who can't be bothered to take care of themselves. The smokers, obese, alcoholics and drug users never have to change because they'll keep siphoning money from me and everyone else.

Thus, the continuing plague of medical problems grows in this country and rather than telling people to get their act together, we coddle them by saying, "Don't worry, you never have change your lifestyle choices. Keep on doing what you're doing, everyone else will pick up the tab."

Being forced to hand over your money and getting nothing in return is a surefire way of going broke.

hopefully he isnt in Hawaii

Hawaii Hussein Black ObamaCare closed, ITS BROKE

Or maybe people should be able to decide whether or not to buy insurance for themselves.

He did exactly that. He said no, paid the penalty, and now his bill is coming due. As usual with teahadists they can't take personal responsibility. Also, there's a high probability this guy is a racist.

We have single payer social security set to go bankrupt soon.

The only way people can be allowed to choose for themselves is if we as a society collectively agree that if they fuck up for any reason we get to stand back and watch them die.

My house has never once caught fire, nobody has ever broken into my house, technically Hawaii wasn't a state when Pearl Harbor occured so when was the last time an enemy country attacked the US? So I could save a lot of money, I'm being forced to shell out money for something and getting nothing in return!

You make it sound like being sick is a walk in the park.

Why does anyone buy any kind of insurance for any reason? The simple answer is: so it's there when you need it. The idea that what you pay is simply "wasted" if you never have to make a claim (this also applies to homeowners' or auto policies; not so much life insurance since we're all gonna die) is bizarre.

You could live with a friend and always carpool. The government doesn't force you to do those things.

Interesting comments on his go fund me page. http://www.gofundme.com/s78e9w

I think this guy is the typical middle income Republican voter. Below average intelligence and easily misled. Thinks he is rich and will never have any money problems, so he votes accordingly.

Because one story proves . . . um, hang on. It proves . . . it proves the guy couldn't manage his finances correctly.

I think the relevant point is that just about no one can manage finances to accommodate any number of maladies that mount up medical costs quickly--unless they have insurance to cover most of it.

Until Reagancare and it's horrifyingly bad version of socialism in HC are repealed, pretty much all GOP arguments against socialized medicine are wholly invalid and completely hypocritical.

Let's see them even propose a "No insurance, then fuck you!" bill....and commit political mass suicide. OH PLZ LET THEMZ TRY!!

Apparently you forget the attack of September 11, 2001. Then again, considering the money we've spent on the military and intelligence services one could rightly claim we've been forced to shell out money for something and getting nothing in return.

That said, and I have stated this on other forums on this subject, when asked if I would be willing to sign away every medical treatment should I need it and not be able to afford it in exchange for not having to pay insurance every again I have said yes.

The problem is when I say this, people stop and think, "Huh. This guy called my bluff. Now what?" Then they go into some long-winded rambling about how I can't do that, how I shouldn't be allowed to do that and every other reason why I shouldn't be able to do with my life what I want.

Oddly, this is the same reasoning they use when claiming they should be able to smoke weed. Apparently it's okay for them to want to do what they want with their life while having others pick up the tab for their medical care despite their poor choice, but it's not okay for me to do what I want with my life without having to rely on anyone else.

Possibly. Then again most people live in fear all their lives about what may happen without taking any sensible steps to mitigate any potential outcome or are oblivious to everything.

For example, I have had to listen to numerous people whine about how they don't have enough money to do this or that. Apparently having the biggest tv package which they don't use, a cell phone plan which does more than what they need and driving a 12 mpg SUV for the three miles to the grocery store every day never enter into the picture of their finances.

I once calculated for someone how much money they spend every year on cigarettes. It came out to well over $1K per year. Now common sense would say that grand could be spent/used more wisely elsewhere but nope, they were gonna keep on smoking which in turn led to them being repeatedly sick or under the weather and of course needing medical care. Again, common sense never entered into the picture.

If people can't take care of themselves first, they shouldn't expect me, or anyone else, to do it for them.

I didn't forget 9/11. First however I live in LA (or close enough) so that didn't happen to me it happened to someone else. Which is the crux of this conversation no? Second tell me again how the military prevented that. Not perhaps avenged it after the fact but how they prevented it because as I recall the only prevention that went on at all was done by civilians. So even before we talk about the trillions we've spent I'm still pouring money down a hole and getting shit in return by your logic.

You didn't call their bluff. It cannot be a personal choice, it has to be universal across the society. You have to not just decide for yourself but for other people because when you're in the emergency room there is no guarantee that you had your wallet on you at that exact time.

Weed doesn't seem to be harmful to ones health by the by especially compared to other things. But that's an entirely different subject.

That's a separate issue from what I was addressing, which is why someone would want to have insurance even if they're healthy now, or don't expect their house to disappear in a tornado, or are safe drivers who never drink.

The reason for the health insurance mandate is that hospitals don't just let accident victims bleed out for inability to pay. That's the mistake made by the dope in South Carolina -- he figured it was wasted money as long as he was healthy, and assumed that if he got unlucky and fell into a serious health jam, the "government" would be there to pick up the tab.

Oh, I'm fully aware. I was pretending to be a Republican for a moment.

Oh, I don't think they think that at all. They just think you're talking out of your ass. They know you'd expect--and know--that the rest of us are going to foot the bill for another deadbeat.

I don't know what you've been smoking to think that stopping smoking and saving your pennies is going to come anywhere close to covering the medical bills people get slapped with in the real world.
