Is it really a jungle? Do the Alpha lions roam, looking to conqueror, or is it the most cunning of the species that get their prize?

A little bit of both. I've been bitten by those alpha beasts, but I've done a fair amount of hunting and capturing, too. Maybe that's the attraction of Lit; you can change your position, so to speak, experiment a little, without the risk.

Although, sometimes the consequences of playing that game can be painful.

Maybe permits and licenses need to be issued ;)

Perhaps, for old time's sake, I toss out out a question.

People tend to come and go at Lit. Sometimes they tell the world they are going, sometimes just a few people are told, and other times a litster will simply fade away. How much concern do you give those that just disappear? Does it bother you? Make you curious? Does it consume you? Or do you just take it in stride as a fact of Lit life?

I think you are correct........and like all good fantasies, they fade over time

If this is how you feel, it may explain your question/s today. I tend to think of reality fading against vivid fantasies. Maybe it depends upon whether you can sustain the fantasy.

Just corner skillfully? ;)

Brilliant response, Ruby. :)

Waxing philosophical? Personal musings?? Actual question???

Need more info! :p

More info needed, indeed. Are you talking about the jungle of life? Lit? You do know lions aren't found in jungles?
Taking a broad view, Alpha lions may roam looking to conquer but many will go home empty handed. The most cunning of the species, who can contrive a successful plan to get what they want, they deserve the prize and should be prized. I could say it's a case of brains over brawn, at least for some of us, but something like a little rough and tumble in the jungle has an appeal, too.

You promise a question and ask 5!
That people come and go at Lit is a fact of Lit Life. There are some about whom I have had cause to be concerned when they disappeared, knowing something of the challenges they face, others I know simply need to walk away sometimes, some of whom are unlikely to return. I might be curious about others who seemed to be having fun on the threads but simply cease to be seen. A few regulars from this thread fall into that category.

The bottom line is, you are unlikely to ever really know what does go on in people's lives and if they walk away, you have to respect their decision. It doesn't bother me. I think most of us would hope that someone's time here was of benefit to them before they left and wish them well.

what are your techniques for avoiding drama at Lit? I've radically changed my viewing habits, focusing on a few threads or reading posts from my historical perspective won't be drama filled. It works for me.

Perhaps there are no techniques to avoid ;)

I often see people comment that if they could go back and change their user name they would. I'm sure many are because they feel they are too simple, or maybe even reveal too much. But in the big scheme of things, how important is the user name?

Well, I liked the questions, so I'm going to answer anyway, even if you are closing the place down. :)

Hmmm. I tend to gravitate towards threads where there are people I know, or like. I'm not attracted to drama, or people who wallow in it, so that works fine. :)

Personally, I like my user name. However, I can certainly see why some people might regret their choice. Those that appear to have used their actual name, for instance. I see how it could happen, but in retrospect, probably not the best idea.

And then there are some that are, well, just...unfortunate. :(

One or two in particular come to mind. Which, of course, I won't name, but seriously, what were you thinking people? SERIOUSLY!!!

She's not the only one. I'd love to see this thread going again. It sparked a lot of conversation and the vast majority of it was good. So my vote is also yes, please.

Follow way less threads....

Talk to way less people....

Say "fuck it" and walk away.....

Plus an extremely busy work load has helped break all of the bad habits...:)

I'll keep things around here on life support for a while longer(not to turn this into THAT debate).

There are lots of threads out there, as we know, you can list, count, display, pick-up.....really almost anything and yet I see more new threads everyday. But I wonder how many good thread ideas never get off the ground because the OP doesn't want to make that type of effort. For instance I thought of a thread that would be alphabetical in nature but the hook is that the posters could only go in the alphabetical order of their names. So ChainedUp could only post after someone posted whose name started with a B. But I didn't really want to make the effort to create and then help guide it along.

Would a thread incubator work around here? A place where thread ideas could be posted for any/all and if someone wanted to take it and run with it they could.
