I don't know if there's a random question thread, as in an analog to the Isolated Blurts thread, which I gather is what you're asking about. I don't recall ever seeing one. I have been thinking about these responses since I read them. Things that have occurred to me. The most heartfelt case against this language, ( though not only) were by men, ( who are both tops? ). This has been something that keeps circling round and around, G feels very similar and dislikes disrespectful, dehumanising language. The phrase 'I'd do him/her' is a sort of joke we use because he found it so distasteful when he heard it.

Midwestyankee, I'm guessing this is a good place to ask about riding crops in bdsm. People refer to them as if they are uniform one type things, but presumably the bdsm community make full use of the range available. Its funny when people talk about canes and whips and crops, I have a collection of all, but its hard to read of them as one thing grouped as genetic crop, though I am not pedantic about people getting their names correctly applied ( goodness knows the equestrian community do not! ) , I presume they mean all of them?

I'm not sure I'd like a dressage whip, particularly some of the cheaper ones which are light but nasty, used harshly on me at all, and I've never used a dressage whip as anything other than a light touch ( as light or lighter than my leg) on an animal) but on the other hand there are some crops now I believe that make a big noise but not significant pain on impact ( presumably wider impact area etc), It occurred to me that for those who seek play but not pain these might be interesting.

Good point. I think that most people in the BDSM community tend to include all types of crops when they use the word "crop." while someone closely acquainted with different types, like those used for dressage and those for everyday use might distinguish between them. I have only used two types, both purchased at farm stores. They're both about 2 feet long. One has a paddle end that is almost square while the end on the other one is a folded strip of leather about 1 inch wide and perhaps 3 inches long. Someone with more expertise would probably give them more specific names, right?
