Isolated Blurt Thread

You are indeed fortunate Naoko.

We have an continual fight against fleas because all our cats spend as much time as possible outdoors, socialising with other cats.

We treat the cats, the soft furnishings, the few rugs (most of our house has the original wood floors) and have an electric flea trap in constant use.

Flea eradication costs almost as much as the cat food. As soon as we think we've won, they meet another flea-ridden moggie and the process starts all over again.

Ooooo! I need a setup like that!

I went back to the charity shop today with the surplus from last night's auction.

The sewing machine I gave them isn't a decade earlier. It IS that model.

They have three people who are seriously considering buying it, perhaps at £70.

In our auction tomorrow is a two foot high Gold Cupid holding up a torch (Statue of Liberty type torch). His body and plinth are studded with stick-on fake jewels probably from a child's nail make-up set.
Obsessed with my pussy, I have missed seeing any pictures of this wonderful piece of art? I feel better able to withstand pictures of a two foot gold cupid with fake jewels studded over his backside, and am eagerly waiting.
:p

:p

I couldn't take pictures yesterday because it was raining and I don't think it is waterproof.

Today - I'm celebrating. I've popped in for a few minutes between bouts of decorous dissipation.

Tomorrow - boring things like visiting the bank, and printing off masses of family history data for:

Saturday - visit to my wife's last surviving aunt in sheltered accommodation and meeting more of my wife's family there.

So, weather permitting, Sunday is possibly the first day for pictures.

Gold lamp

The rain held off for a few minutes, so I was able to take a couple of pictures:

Here's one I bought earlier:

From the same auction but a couple of months ago, also at £3.30, I acquired Hebe, cupbearer to the Gods of Olympus:

Aesthetically, Hebe is far superior to the Jardiniere and the Gold Lampbearer, but they are - unique? appalling? kitsch? - none of which could apply to Hebe.

And yet another, bought this week:

A Grecian Lady:

OMG! that gold thing is just ... awesome!

Is it a cupid? What about that turban and the, uh, strangely muscular back. The lascivious grin.

That's just wild, LOL.
:nana::cool::nana:
(I had to put the sunglasses on to look at the thing.)

It's Ali Baba with a torch to light his way in the cave. Open Sesame!

I'm not sure what it is, but it is different.

From the back I think he's squatting on a potty. ;)

I think Glyndah is right - it is Ali Baba! Anyway, totally hilarious and well worth a few quid. Although the jardiniere ... that was Art! *sigh*

God, I have come in here really to have a real blurt.

My favourite bra has popped a wire! That never happened to me before :(. The wire is poking out into my cleavage in a most uncomfortable way. Maybe I can sew it back in place ... :( Boo hoo! my most favourite bra! :(

PennGirl turned 7 last week. Her party, originally scheduled for last Saturday, is happening tonight. I'm not quite ready, and I have... eight hours to get ready. At least I ordered the cake... Now I just need to a couple of games to amuse eight little girls ... man, I should have hired a planner.

Triumph; the One ?

Eh? Why plan it; the kids all do what they want anyway.
Don't they?

Sometimes, but at parties there is a certain expectation of activities. Trust me, without a little direction, I'd just end up with a bunch of bored little kids.

My two *interesting* Art items are now on display at our local Artists' collective in their exhibition "Politics and Art".

The Jardiniere is labelled: "The Traditional Role of Women in Politics" - i.e. decorative supporters.

Ali Baba is labelled: "The Torch of Artistic Liberty extinguished by Kitsch."

I am delighted that we are past arranging such events. It is up to our children now, to provide grandchildren's parties.

I remember taking groups of girls to:

Ice Skating; Ten Pin Bowling; a ride on the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch railway, and an activity day at Dover Castle (archery, dressing up consecutively as princesses and servant girls, medieval cookery).

The most successful parties were when we just let them run riot in our large play room with all our daughters' toys (the special toys were in the daughters' bedrooms). The upright piano and the drum kit were much used, but the hit was the ancient full size electric cooker which wasn't connected but could be used as part of the play kitchen.

NSA, don't mind me!

Well, I've always assumed if the government doesn't have a dossier on me by now then I'm not doing my job as a librarian and a writer.

. . . said associate director Mark Felt of the FBI, concerning the Watergate scandal ;)

How ya been, MP?

Heya Slyc  Life moves fast and in a generally upward trajectory. I've had some trouble focusing my writing of late but I've managed to narrow it down to three different stories to work on. I won't feel quite good until I've completed something. Hope all is well with you and yours. :rose:

I tried that when my fave popped the wire and it didn't work. :rose:

That's a unique goal.

I actually have a date lined up for tomorrow...

Anyone want to bet if she shows up or not?
