I love that kid. I also now have the urge to post the chest buster scene from Alien. Gross!

So I need to ask--is it really that big of a stigma to be a poster on the Playground if you choose to join the fray in the GB? And why? I'm asking for a friend.

Haha no I'm not. I think I've posted on the Playground twice in 10 years, and more frequently in the GB but just in the dirty gif threads so, what the butt? I don't get it.

I just wondered if anyone knew why it is considered such an insult. The scorn dripping from the screen is almost visible when it's bandied about.

But there, among the good apples are a loose group of irksome, obstinate posters who just post to antagonize, and take swipes at fellow posters. Sometimes, it's like Greasers and Socs in there. Funny at times, sometimes sad.

I do think that I understand some of the attitude toward The Playground in other parts of Ye Olde Literotica. By my count, there are 24 different fora here. Over a third of them are devoted to the story/creative side of Literotica which is, of course, its primary reason for being. Another third of the fora are dedicated to topic-centric discussions (GLBT, How To, BDSM, for example). On balance, then, people who use the various fora here can be excused if they think that the place is largely meant for serious discussions. Yes, I know that even the most serious of these fora have their silly sides but I think my main point holds. My few forays into the GB have led me to believe that the regulars there hold the opinion that theirs is a forum devoted to somewhat adult discussions of matters of general importance.

With all these excuses for people to think of themselves as serious people, it's little wonder that The Playground, with its (used to be) interminable threads dedicated to the intellectual challenges of Googling yet another actor whose last name begins with "H" (Hiddleston comes to mind) and where 11 out of 10 signature areas are dominated by a graphic of a pink unicorn with sparkles being adored by a nascent puppy and four oh-so-adorable kittens might come in for some derision.

I started out in the Playground when I first arrived here, and met some of my very favorite people ever in that forum. But eventually I gravitated toward a place where the discussions were a little more substantial and where the sig line areas wouldn't cause my whole house network to bog down with animations. Sure, I know too that there have always been a few fairly serious discussion threads in The Playground. But they're harder to find than unicorns.

People like to take themselves seriously. Dissing The Playground here is one way to signal that they are part of the serious tribe.
