Does anyone here know how to block a person, and I do not mean the Ignore feature?

I mean, a way of blocking someone from posting on your threads, PMing you or seeing anything that you post, just as you would do on Facebook.

I'd appreciate any help in this area.

The concept of "ignore" on this particular platform is imperfect and requires some willpower to use. One cannot see the content of what the ignored person has to say in their post, but you can always tell by when they post what they are responding to, and it grates. Also, there is no way to block seeing when the blocked post is quoted. It takes discipline to decide not to click "view post."

Imagine you like your home and your neighborhood. You have one neighbor who is an asshole and you have decided to have nothing to do with him. He serves on the homeowners committee, so every time he wants to say something about your yard, home, kids, dogs, or cars he sends you a note. You don't have to open the envelope, you can resign it to the trash. Official notices have to be sent certified. Do you look at what the asshole is carping about or not? You shouldn't. It only afflicts your peace. Most likely you do.

What about when you observe him talking to neighbors and pointing at your weeds? Do you ask the neighbors what the asshole is up to now? Or do you hum a tune and assume that despite the finger pointing not only is he not talking about you he is also not having any success enlisting the neighbor to his cause?

This is more or less the actual sort of verbiage that I have seen Laurelle employ. I have never seen her say, "Get over yourself, pull your big-girl panties up!" She shows some actual sympathy while allowing for the free-speech we are all otherwise in favor of.

One of the reasons that trolls are so plentiful and happy here is because whenever anyone does the emotionally healthy thing and says "ouch" when someone is being ugly, the answer from the peanut gallery is always, "Don't be butthurt!!"
