Fair enough. California has a disproportionate percentage of workers in residential construction, and as we all know, construction was hurt the most in the Bush Recession.

California's white collar worker unemployment is in line with the rest of America, but blue collar employment lags, primarily because residential housing was historically 24% of blue collar jobs in America and 32% in California.

Why would I want to start my own company when I already have a rather lucrative career managing other people's businesses? I suppose I could start up a business doing Building Maintenance, HVAC, and Building Automation. But why do that when I already make more than enough money, have two homes, and the first of two kids about to finish her Master's Degree? I would much rather spend my off time with my family. A small business owner doesn't really HAVE any off time. You would know that if you had any sort of business experience.
