Got called in to the doc, and I have another spot on my scalp that needs to come out and then it's off for radiation treatment. Surgery Monday.
Not exactly the news I was hoping for.

I hope everything works out for you. You're very courageous.

And you have funny ears.

:rose:

Sorry to hear that, WQ. I hope this is the last of it. :rose:

Two surgeries in 10 days. Yay. Not.
I have no idea what to expect from radiation therapy, so I will be researching like mad for the next few days.

I shouldn't be so surprised.... I grew up in the hottest part of the country, and then went off sailing for the next 12 years. I've had so much UV exposure in my lifetime....

Keep doing everything you know how to do, you don't have to do much of it, but in case of minor brain damage due to radiation, your brain will rewire as you do them.

As I remember it takes about 18 months for brain cells to die. You have a lot of them, the rewiring is the thing.

Good luck!

Oh, if they offer you anti nausea pills that dissolve on your tongue (called Zofran here) accept them and carry them with you. You may never need them, but it's best to have them with you just in case.

But not in lymph nodes, right?

Meanie doctor! I'll bust a cap on his ass!!!!

Sorry your dealing with this and I hope they finally get all of it this time. Good luck! :rose:

They decided not to take them yet. It means a bigger op and I do not react well to full anaesthetic (as in, I tend to arrest).

Can't they do a fine needle biopsy, which is done with local anesthesia?

WTF.... Why are you having radiation therapy?

I am guessing unclear margins? With my sib they usually freeze those though, but they have only had basal cell which is incidentally from radiation treatment... :(

WTF.... Why are you having radiation therapy?

I have melanoma and the path results show it's not clear margins, plus we got the biopsy results back from a second spot about 3 inches away from the one I had removed last Friday and it too is a melanoma (being removed on Monday).
We are still waiting for the pathology from the bone sample they took.

Nice. Live long and prosper, indeed.

You don't have quite my ears or my cranium, but you rock the bald look well, considering.

Kids used to call me Spock because my ears are quite pointy.
