Arizona School Forcing All Female Students To Wear Hijab For One Month

A high school in Tempe, Arizona is forcing all of their female students to wear hijabs — traditional Muslim headwear for women — for one full month, after the parents of a bullied 10th grade student complained to the Tempe School Board last week.

From March 2nd through April 3rd, all female students will be required to wear the headscarves, regardless of their personal views on religion. District officials say the female students will each be given a hijab, as well as pamphlets on bullying and bigotry. Those students who choose not to wear the Muslim garb will face detention or even suspension.

The decision came after a 10th grade student was cornered in the girls’ locker room by five other students, none of whom have yet been identified by the school district. The school’s principal alleges that those female students stole the girl’s hijab, verbally assaulted her with racial epithets, and physically pinned her against a locker while one student wiped her backside with the hijab, before physically forcing her to wear it again.

“This was nothing short of a hate crime, plain and simple,” says the school’s principal, Malorie Reeves. “We aren’t sure which students were responsible for this heinous act, but rest assured that we will expel them from our school the very moment we find out who it was.”

Reeves says that she hopes the headscarves will teach students in her school about tolerance. “We aren’t forcing any of our students to observe Sharia Law or read the Quran. But if we force these kids to wear these headscarves, our hope is that that would teach them about tolerance and to respect people from other cultures.”

But parents are outraged by the school district’s decision. “This doesn’t make any sense to me. You can’t pray to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in that school, but they can force you to become a Muslim?” says Georgette McCullough, a parent and local PTA member. “I heard what happened to that girl, and yes, it was wrong. But what if a kid gets bullied for being fat? Are we going to force all the students to eat cupcakes? This is absurd, and it isn’t Christian.”

Another parent, who asked not to be identified, says he’s filing a lawsuit. “This is America. In this country, we speak American. We pray to our American God, Jesus Christ. And I never read nothing in the Bible demanding I dress a certain way. If you ask me, these kids were heroes. Maybe it’ll teach these people that this is America. They don’t need to believe in that stuff no more. They don’t need to wake up every morning and say `Allah aardvark’ or whatever it they say. I’m suing the school district. I don’t want my kid to become a Muslim. I don’t want them to become bad people.”

Meanwhile, the parents of the bullied student, who also asked to not be identified, say they’re against the school’s mandate. “We don’t want anyone to believe what we believe. We don’t want to change minds or force people to pray to our God,” says the girl’s father. “We came to this country to escape the tyranny and oppression in our native land. We came seeking economic prosperity and the American Dream. We respect all other cultures and our neighbors. What they did to our daughter was unfortunate, but it does not warrant punishing an entire school.”

Its a liberal ploy for the 2016 election, to bring out the Sarah Palin voters.

I get what they're trying to do here, but this is the equivalent of trying to stop slut-shaming by making every girl learn how to give a blowjob. Come to think of it, I think I've probably created a story idea for someone.

did you mean to post this part?

Yes I did

You have no issue with what the school is doing?

Hmmmmm.....
The only media outlet in the world covering this story is NationalReport.net. It's gotta be true!

“This doesn’t make any sense to me. You can’t pray to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in that school, but they can force you to become a Muslim?” says Georgette McCullough, a parent and local PTA member.

Quite obviously this person is confused as to the difference between praying in a public and wearing something according to ones religion, especially since I can guarantee every Christian at the school is free to wear a cross somewhere on their person.

“I heard what happened to that girl, and yes, it was wrong. But what if a kid gets bullied for being fat? Are we going to force all the students to eat cupcakes? This is absurd, and it isn’t Christian.”

Okay, never mind. She's officially an idiot. What does attempting (no matter how outlandishly) to teach kids that bullying someone because of their religious beliefs have to do with being Christian? Apparently this woman doesn't know the history of Christianity and its continuing attempts to bully other religions while whining they're being persecuted.

However, here's my real question for the Islamic, Jewish and some Christian sects: why is it the woman has to suffer by covering herself when according to your own religion it is the men who are unable to control themselves at the sight of a woman's hair, arms or legs being exposed? Wouldn't you think it is the men who should have to change rather than inflict this form of subservience on women?

Well

Then it's a lie

Right?

Let's see:
The article in NationalReport said "a Tempe High School" but declined which one of the seven high schools in the Tempe Union High School District. A search on the Tempe Union High School District website failed to turn up any confirming article, as did a search of the Arizona Republic, which is the primary local newspaper for the Phoenix Metro are (of which Tempe is a part). In addition, a search on the alleged high school principle, Malorie Reeves, failed to turn up ANY listing in Tempe or the Phoenix metro area or the ENTIRE FUCKING STATE OF ARIZONA.

So yeah, given that your so-called source was real short of details and the few they did bother to provide turned out to bullshit, it's a pretty sure bet this news article has all the validity of the Weekly Word News article about Bat Boy or the Giant Flying Cat that Terrorized Wisconsin.

Sorry, but your little manufactured outrage attempt = big steaming pile of FAIL.

Suspend the five girls who did this, make them read the bullying literature etc...

leave the other kids alone.

Relax LC
It was a bullshit article, a.k.a. A LIE.

Busybody was either too stupid to verify the story before posting, or knew it was a lie and decided to post it anyway.

What's sad....is I really don't have a hard time thinking it can happen these days.

Yah, I get where you're coming from.
The thing is that the web has become the primary tool of spreading ignorance, bullshit and outright lies nowadays so it usually always pays to look into the matter before reacting.

Especially on the General Board and particularly with certain personalities who constantly spread whatever manufactured outrage/partisan bullshit they can.

Busybody is one of those people.
