Oprahs movie aint doing too well with nominations.
The movie falsely attributed the success of the Civil Rights Act to Kennedy and LBJ, with no mention that 80% of the vote against it were Democrats. No mention as well of the Republican vote that made it all possible, or the leadership of Senator Everett Dirksen.

The original House version:
Southern Democrats: 7–87 (7–93%)
Southern Republicans: 0–10 (0–100%)
Northern Democrats: 145–9 (94–6%)
Northern Republicans: 138–24 (85–15%)
The Senate version:
Southern Democrats: 1–20 (5–95%) (only Ralph Yarborough of Texas voted in favor)
Southern Republicans: 0–1 (0–100%) (John Tower of Texas)
Northern Democrats: 45–1 (98–2%) (only Robert Byrd of West Virginia voted against)
Northern Republicans: 27–5 (84–16%)
Maybe the 6000 members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have decided that racist black propaganda films full of lies and designed to drum up racial hatred aren't worthy of an award. After all the real "Butler" was born in Virginia, he did not see his mother raped by a white man, and his dad was never killed by a white man when he protested the rape. He never said a word of criticism of any President, nor did he retire out of protest.

The biggest majority of southern democrats up until the 80s were what are known today as republicans. For example, South Carolina's legislature became republican controlled by party switches, not a change in political views or ideology on the part of those legislators elected. They were basically the same people with the same views. They just started calling themselves republicans instead of democrats. Strom Thurmond was a great example.
Sooooo really just mad because film didn't suck off todays GOP? HAHAHAHAHAHA good gawd you're a sad sad politihack.
Vettey hates facts like that...all that matters is that at the time it sayz (D) and that makes (R) today look better, vettey cares about NOTHING else. If he could he would set the US constitution on fire and NUKE the entire fucking country killing EVERYONE as enemies of the state, for not agreeing with his political ideology.
He's that partisan....
OK, how is that a problem? Democrats do the same and more every day.
