I had three life goals last week

1) Get a job
2) Get healthy
3) Earn my black belt in kung fu

I sign for my job tomorrow and I was feeling pretty healthy tonight. It might just be time to reassess my goals.

1) Pay off my car
2) Earn my black belt
3) Save up for a new electronic drum set

:D

Great goals.

Great goals.
My own three not-so-great goals:

1) Master RHAPSODY IN BLUE on the chromatic harmonica.
2) Install an enclosed hot-tub so I can laugh at the snow.
3) Force myself to finish a dozen stories lying in abeyance.

I've always wanted to eat an animal while it was alive.

I've heard of Secret Santa but this is the first time that I've had a Secret Birthday Fairy visit the mailbox.

So I started my new job yesterday. I didn't prepare all that well the day before so I had to rush a few things in the morning. Like attaching a pass for street parking in my rear view window. I got settled in at a desk finally though, and started working. Having to start in the middle of a project is always difficult, so a lot of time was spent on getting used to what the company's standards are, while trying to resolve some issues with the building I was drawing, figuring out exactly what was mean on the drawings that were already done and figuring out how all of that affected what I was working on. I found some mistakes and some unresolved issues with the original design a,d felt good about resolving those problems. Still a bit of work left to do correcting mistakes that were already made tomorrow though because we only had a half day.

I was getting ready to leave when I started searching in my pocket for my car key. It wasn't there, and I know for a fact I didn't place it on any furniture in the office. I thought back through my day to the moment when I was taping the parking pass to my rear window. Sure enough, the key was there on my back seat, and the spare was a 40 minute drive away. Knowing that my mother wouldn't be driving out there, I called to see if she could grab my spare key off the desk in my bedroom (that I am posting from right now). She started making excuses and suggested calling the police and asking for help. Sure enough, just as she is saying that I see a squad car a block down the road. So I mention that to my mother, end the conversation with my her, and flag down the officer (he looked like Jonah Hill). He helps by prying open the window, using a long hooked metal rod to grab onto the latch, and opening the door. I thanked him profusely and went on my merry way.

First day of work completed. Now all I need to do is get into the groove and work there for as long as the company and I both exist.

I do too a bit. Our refrigerator was working in 2014. So far in 2015, not so much.
