Writing on my mind

Late night, trying to get these words down. I don't want to go back to work tomorrow. But then... I gotta eat. I have this scene in my head where they sit down to dinner with this charismatic, eccentric villain. I just want to write that part. Why does there have to be a point A and a point B? Why can't we just have a novel full of points with "and they did some shit before this thing happened; you, the reader, know what reg people do, right? Come on, son!" in between them.

Use the scene for dialog gems from people you know, or use it to show some sort of character facet.

If you have a gem you want to display, it's easier to want to build the display case.

Also, if it is just you being disciplined and wanting to write the novel in the order the reader will read it, don't. Write what you said above and bracket it "PLACEHOLDER" and write the scene you are enthused about. Transitions are easier to write if you know what you are bridging.

In times like these you just have to ask yourself, what would John Grisham do?

He would sit and ask himself, what would Stephen King do? Not that I prefer King, but that guy obviously never had a moment of writers block. Ever.

He wrote so many words he had to be at least two people at once. I can relate. Just not directed anywhere useful.

I want to write this next scene but I'm drained after work and feeling surly. That ache behind my eye that I thought was the caffeine winding down is actually not. Popped a Monster and two different pain meds and it's still there. Frustrated because I rushed home for this shit and now all I can think about is bed.

I need to pay the medical insurance and get it together so I can put it in the mail first thing in the morning but I have to check the banking online to make sure the check won't bounce if they cash it before the 31st. but that means getting up and getting my wallet which is my pants. Over there. I don't want to. I just want to bed.

It's part of the writing process to nap sometimes.

....

Do you want people to respond...or is this a blog thing? We just need to know.

Both? What is your blurt thread? Do you want people to respond?

If you don't got nothing to say, then just make out with me or something. I'm sorry if that was a bit forward. I'm still feeling frisky from that other thread.

What you've just laid out is part of life for most of us all the time.

I wanna read that book of yours so get on it. ;)

*snerk*

I can't keep them all straight.

I'm not a writer but I picked this quote up a few years ago. Seems appropriate to share here.

There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed. ~ Ernest Hemingway

No doubt. My boss is unsympathetic when I ask to go home during non-busy days. "Something always needs cleaning around here," is usually his answer.

I'll put a synopsis in the first post.

Nobody? Really?

"Writhing On My Mind"

Hah! I'm not popular enough to get a parody thread. I'd totally post in a thread called "Writhing On My Mind" though.

A loaded gun is a bit more menacing.

It's the kind of atmosphere I was hoping to get from a thread like this. Keep me moving and working. Less likely to visit for too long.

I tried to follow your advice but I just made a mess. :( Somebody, drive me to the hospital.
