Why are Moses and Rameses white?

Your guess? Okay...let's use our brains here. :) The common person in Egypt now, in global cities like Alexandria and Cairo, don't even have blondes there and many of them have Persian and South European and Mediterranean mixes. So...okay. My ex is also Irish. He studies ethnography and told me that the reason the Gaelic Irish have dark features

is because they were nomads from Morocco, into Spain , Portugal and Iberia, from the Galicians. And then settled in Northern Europe with the Vikings and Celts.

I mention this because here you have a group of white people with North African and South European ancestry, and they have dark features often. And the Arabs and other people who are always seen on the news living in Cairo, for example, are very mixed with the same things. And they don't even have blonde hair. The blonde gene will also depreciate overtime. There are also black people who naturally grow blonde hair...

I cannot promise you blond-haired children but you play your cards right you could be looking at some blue or green-eyed, blond haired grandchildren. Lets go with your melanin production. Saves on sunscreen and tanning bed fees.

"The largest of the three pyramids at Giza, known as the Great Pyramid, is truly an astonishing work of engineering. It was built over a twenty year period. Some believe that it was built by slaves, but this is not true. One hundred thousand people worked on the great structure for three months of each year, during the Nile’s annual flood when it was impossible to farm the land and most of the population was unemployed. The pharaoh provided good food and clothing for his workers, and was kindly remembered in folk tales for many centuries."

Wait.

So this was a shovel-and-basket-ready project funded by the Egyptian Stimulus Package?!??

But did these invasions happen during the time of Moses? They did later, but did the invasions you mention happen while Ramses was pharaoh. I know he attacked at least one of his neighbors - Hatti.

The Hitties were mostly based in modern turkey if i am not mistaken

About a quarter of the Melanesian population in the Solomon Islands archipelago has an extremely unusual trait – dark skin with blond hair. The archipelago, located east of Papa New Guinea in Oceania, consists of a thousand islands inhabited by over half a million Melanesian people. They have the darkest skin in the world outside of Africa, but strangely, about one-fourth of the inhabitants sport blond afros.
so the mummie has no connection the Melanesian population nor do the Melanesian people have connection with the africa when it comes to hair color

The semitic people (arabs, jews, and others) are Causacian but by a european won't see them as such. Gaelic Irish dark features? what dark features?

It didn't sound like he was debating the race of the builders, just the fact that they were licensed contractors, not slaves. That's basic history. The Egyptians did have slaves, but they weren't tasked with creating the pyramids, and it wasn't the same way we think of slavery today, in terms of chattel slavery.

That's not limited to Meanesian folk tho. Lots of black folk have light hair. I don't think I've ever met a black person with hair as dark as mine that wasn't dyed. When people talk about 'black' hair, they're normally talking about texture, not color, which took a MILLION years to get used to because I have black hair and my gf has 'black' hair and we spent about 6 months having two different conversations. African American folk descended from slaves tend to have the widest variation of naturally occurring light hair color, their eumelanin and pheomelanin tend to have a lot in common with European levels and less with strait up African levels, which tend to be higher. The more phemelanin you have, the lighter your hair, the more eumelanin the darker. Those can vary so much and even fluctuate over the lifespan of a single person (some people are born with blond hair that darkens as they get older, for example) so just because you're baby's born blond, does not mean that an EXTREMELY dark, blue-black headed dark, man is not the biological father.

...not that I would ever have a reason to look this up or anything. Just... good to know.

Also, I think that somewhere on this site exists a thread about whitewashing already, in which I was warned numerous times not to watch the Avatar the Last Airbender movie, in part because of whitewashing and also because it apparently just sucks ass.

It's a thing we do here. For example there are approximately eleventy-seven brazilian threads debating circumcision. There are one or two other topics that the GB is (in)famous for rehashing, but I forget them in the sea of foreskins my mind has fallen into.

Uh-huh.

OK but it's weird right? I always heard that dark hair was dominant, phenotypically.... Turns out it just takes a little while to take. It's much darker now and it'll probably turn jet black. It's as thick as mine tho, so she can also have a lifetime of hair tyes snapping apart and hitting people in the face.

Edit: And of just giving up on neon hair much earlier than her peers because it'll have to be stripped every week and that's just a fucking hassle and kills the hair. Fucking blond people. Not having to leave bleach and developer on for 45 minutes going, "Hey is this supposed to burn like the fires of hell? Anybody else smell that?"

That's a lot of dick debate. What was the consensus? I don't even know why we do it. I've never looked at my dick and had an intense longing for the foreskin I've never had.

It's not at all clear that slaves built the pyramids in Egypt. My guess is most of them didn't have blond hair and blue eyes, but there is little evidence they were slaves.

Its clear enough because the Egyptians kept records of every goddamned thing that came along; John Romer makes a splendid case that if the Egyptians didn't record it it never happened. I agree.

They were not black. But they were not white either.
Of course, Africa--especially Egypt (note their Euro-vulnerable geographic location) --has been invaded by Sumerians and Greeks and many others for ages and ages. Just picking up a corpse and saying, "See? Look. It has this and that. They were white." It's ridiculous. Everyone knows they were colored people, stop being silly http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/images/smilies/yawn.gif

Kitty92 we don't want to use too much reason, as it is not well received on the boards. Also, throw out logical, cogent thinking as those, too, are likely offend.

That being said, I totally agree with you.

I'm not going to watch a three and a half hour long video to find out what the fuck you're talking about. I've studied this subject often, and I've seen no proof slaves built the Egyptian pyramids. I've seen evidence a lot of non-slaves were involved. It wouldn't surprise me if some of the workers were slaves, but it sure as hell would surprise me if all of them were, or even if most of them were.

There's a lot of alabster skin in the new film EXODUS: Gods and Kings

Is anyone else irritated by this? I mean, they're in Egypt.. on the African continent.

It begs the question: Hollywood, WTF?

For the same reason that Jesus and all of his disciples are normally depicted as white despite coming from the Middle East.

Because Man was made in God's image, and HE is obviously White. Oh, and the Garden of Eden was in Jackson county Missouri.

Nobody knows the racial makeup of the average Egyptian of three or four thousand years ago. We do have the mummy of Ramses, however, and that tells us a lot about him.

History and science are mysteries to you huh?

Most people in the Middle East are Caucasian. Whether they are considered "white" is a matter of opinion.
