So when is this "Honest" discussion regarding race relations goint to occur?

A response to Nubian_Legend.

Thanks for the thoughtful posts. Rather than quote them I've provided links to the posts in the interests of trying to keep this response as brief as possible.

Just as a general observation you have introduced data/statistics that, while interesting, really have no bearing on the issue, at least to my mind. Secondly you have reintroduced a reason/motive for the behavior we observe in the black community.

Addressing the data/statistics, crime has been on the decline in the US since the early to mid 90's. Those statistics are across the board and they are statistics that obviously apply to the black community (with the exception of drug violations that you pointed out) as well as all others. These are promising statistics that we should all take some comfort in. But even with the general reduction of crime the black community still commits crime far in excess of its representative portion of the population and that is one of the issues under discussion. Hence my statement concerning interesting as well as promising.

You have reintroduced poverty as the primary causative agent in this phenomena. And while I agree that it is a component, I strongly disagree that it is the driving factor. The black community does not live in crushing poverty. See my previously linked paper on poverty based on statistics accumulated by the government. People can live in poverty and improve their own lives as well as the lives of their children without resorting to crime. And that would make it more of a moral issue than a financial issue. Smooth did a good job of pointing out the misplaced imperatives of the young men in the 'hood', I need add nothing to his observations. As long as those imperatives remain in place a higher crime rate is to be expected to continue. When 'bling' replaces education and self-advancement through honest labor we can expect no less.

Government policies, Federal, State, and Local, have all played a role in this destruction of the black family and their hope for a brighter future. They've provided the means for poverty to become tolerable and a generational way of life. They were/are all well meaning without the policy makers having thought through the unintended consequences of their actions.

There are programs that I believe in, programs that are needed, like EEOC as originally intended. But let's be honest here, without an education the EEOC can't help anyone obtain a job for which they aren't qualified. If you can not read, write, or speak good English there is little hope of obtaining a higher level job. So we can agree that education is the key and that the government education system has failed the black community. It's odd to me that the black community overwhelmingly supports a voucher system for education but the representatives they vote for overwhelmingly oppose such a system and side with the unions instead. That's an issue that the community should be getting serious about.

I firmly believe that the solutions to the black communities problems are going to have to originate from within the black community. That instead of assigning blame and playing the victim card the community is going to have to become pro-active in rebuilding itself. Government has a role to play but the continuation/expansion of failed and destructive policies are not an answer.

I'm good. How you?

Hanging in there. Really enjoyed the football game earlier. Did you watch it? Man, there was some great offensive play in that game. Some great players. Especially in the passing game. Rodgers, Nelson, and Jones were great, and even Ryan stepped up. Fun game to watch.

Yeah I seen some of it. I didn't catch the ending. Skip out on iy after halftime. Was thinking it was going to be a blow out,but I heard ATL came back. Every team in the NFC should fear the Packers. I glad my team is in the AFC.

again, how old are you?

I've been posting on the GB for 4 years and 7 months (under this alt, Seaniepoo ;);))...

...so, let's go with your 3rd grade schtick and just say I'm 4 and a half years old. K, joey? K.

So, I'm 4 and a half and still realize JBJ insults on an equality opportunity basis...

...but you just gotta pick out the "black".

Obviously, then, the proper question isn't "how old" am I...

...but is why are you such a racebait piece of shit?

Isn't it time for you to vomit on yourself and pass out?

You are obviously a fucking moron. It's a wonder you have enough brain power to breathe.

I am obviously surrounded by morons, which is why I am much better when offline, surrounded by normal people who needn't need repeatedly be verbally-reminded to breathe.

That also explains why I was not a special needs child; It is now, as an adult, I apparently appear to some to be the type of person who has the need or desire to be (online only, of course) be approached & converse with other "special", short-bus-reject people such as "smooth" & "Toudum".

Lmao. Gotta admit this made me laugh

Welcome to where I'm from.... I won't name the town, & if I did, odds are you haven't heard of it anyway.... But we don't assume each other are race-baiters, or other types of pieces of crap, & we're able to express ourselves & our opinions without resorting to comic strips or videos made by others.
