This post on another thread makes me ask: what is the best way to end a cyber relationship?

Are you looking to end one?

You Just slip out the back, Jack
Make a new plan, Stan
You don't need to be coy, Roy
Just get yourself free
Hop on the bus, Gus
You don't need to discuss much
Just drop off the key, Lee
And get yourself free

Say good-bye and never respond to them again. Delete each email before opening, ignore chat requests, block them where ever you can. Unless they are some super hacker they'll get tired and move on.

Ending a cyber relationship is difficult because you can always have access to the other if they don't change their email account. Contacting the other becomes an addiction and should be handled as such.

Here's my five pesos on the topic:

Is there a different way to end a relationship because it's online?

If I were the recipient of such bad news, I would prefer the kind truth, but truth nonetheless. You are in a relationship with this person, both of you deserve to know why. It's never easy to end something that meant something, so don't cheapen it by saying something you don't mean, or by simply disappearing.

Hopefully, both of you will be respectful of what the other needs and part ways with dignity. Move on and start the healing process.

Good luck! I hope things worked out well in the end for both of you. :)

Exactly! I met my last ex online last year and we had a cyber relationship, until we met and stayed together this summer. We had a lot of sex and did a lot of BDSM (mostly from off my wish list), and we argued so bad and he left and went back to Manchester before my term started again :(

We started skyping to keep in touch and I told him I met a new guy and he just got... so pissed and said horrible things to me and we haven't spoken since August when he left.

I was depressed and was missing classes because I could barely move and yes I'm trying to "heal" on my own because my ex is a cold bastard who abuses the "block" button because he's too much of a pussy and a dick (hermaphrodite?) to TALK to me, and respectfully so!!!! http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/images/smilies/bawling.gif

Anyway, I wish my ex saw your post but hopefully someone else can use it now.
