The National Coalition for Men has a lawsuit against Selective Service before the US Supreme Court.

Where are you in this effort, peace-loving feminists?

No one is attempting to ELIMINATE the Selective Service System, dumbass. The suit alleges that the exclusion of women FROM REGISTERING with Selective Service for a future hypothetical draft violates WOMEN'S Constitutional rights.

Given that our military has been an all volunteer force consisting of both men and women for decades and that it is likely to remain so for the foreseeable future, it is hard to imagine a more frivolous issue for anyone to get excited about.

The federal government has never taken the position that it's Article I, Section 8 authority to "raise and support armies" either precludes or compels including women in a draft for compulsory military service. The government has appropriately been given broad discretion in this particular Constitutional power.

Meanwhile, you, having previously condemned the draft (or at least it's legitimate authority over you personally) for "anybody," now advocates its reach to "everybody" at the curious moment in history when almost "nobody" gives it much thought at all -- and with perfectly good reason.

God, you are a bore.

Women Aren't Required to Register

Here's why:

THE LAW
Selective Service law as it is written now refers specifically to "male persons" in stating who must register and who would be drafted. For women to be required to register with Selective Service, Congress would have to amend the law.

THE SUPREME COURT
The constitutionality of excluding women was tested in the courts. A Supreme Court decision in 1981, Rostker v. Goldberg, held that registering only men did not violate the due process clause of the Constitution.

DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE

Following a unanimous recommendation by the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Defense Secretary Leon E. Panetta announced, on January 24, 2013, the end of the direct ground combat exclusion rule for female service members. The service branches continue to move forward with a plan to eliminate all unnecessary gender-based barriers to service. Ongoing project is still underway.

NOTE: The Selective Service System, if given the mission and additional modest resources, is capable of registering and drafting women.

Still no feminists joining in on this? Figures!

you are aware that first lawsuits brought against Selective Service were endorsed by feminist organizations, right?

in fact in 1980 , NOW declared selective service discriminatory.. far before any mens advocacy groups did

take a look back at 1981.. biggest attempt ever..Rostker v Goldberg.. all of which was financed by a little group known as The American Civil Liberties Union Women’s Rights Project

this is another instance of your understanding of history ending at the inception of AVoiceforMen

Where are these feminist groups now?

The NCFM is the only group before the Supreme Court RIGHT THE FUCK NOW

where are the feminists now?

fighting abortion clinics

making lawsuits against police departments that didnt test thousands of rape kits

supporting LGBT groups

helping create agencies to stop human trafficking

building shelters

the list goes on

the last " feminist" lawsuit against selective service was in 2003...it also failed

and I do think it's great that men are finally stepping up to the table in the fight... but dont pat yourself n the back for finally doing something that feminists have been doing for 30 years for you
