Minimum Wage Is A Joke Because...

Employers who pay it cut hours and recoup the cost by hiring more part-timers who get no benefits. Obama looks good from the extra jobs, Big Box pockets all the benefit money, and the worker makes about half of what he made before the raise.

The concept of minimum wage hs become effete because if you consider it to be pay for a starter job, there really aren't enough jobs to move up to. I think we need to focus on having more jobs such as manufacturing so folks can easily move up from minimum wage. In my area, it was the auto industry. You could get a really goodpaying job with benefits right out of high school, and actually be much better off financially than so called white collar workers. But the greed of the unions killed that.

The unions moved all the manufacturing jobs to places that pay a dollar an hour?

We're talking about less than 4% of the labor force and about a third of a percent of the population.

Yet you and the rest of the RWCJ claim that raising the minimum wage will lead to total economic collapse.

Yep, I know all of that. But the Libs don't. Sean and the gang believe 98% of America makes minimum wage. So I use language they'll embrace.

What do you think the wages for the rest of the workers in the U.S. are going to do if the minimum wage is raised.
Maybe you should read a few union contracts.

Tis true, the minimum wage is a ruse to increase union wages.

These are the same people that think that they can borrow 40 cents on the dollar to give away a dollar for unemployment benefits and that somehow yields two dollars in economic growth.....

...yet raising expenses by a buck or two, unlike giving away money, has no impact whatsoever on the economy.

I'm convinced that to be a liberal, you have to be more than just economically illiterate, you have to suffer from acute innumeracy as well.

If they were to argue that their policies are economically harmful in the short term, but worth it for fairness, at least they would have an argument that makes sense.

If they wanted to suggest that some-how, down the road they would solve the problems they create through inflation, that has it's own brand of pain for the poor, but it makes more sense than there is no problem with raising the minimum wage, or having one for that matter.

Pricing the lowest-skilled workers out of the market does not help them.

Min wage should be $50 an hour.

Then you'd make $100,000 per year to flip burgers. It's only fair.

I agree.
And double the minimum wage every year.
Those rich people can afford it.
The price of a big mac will never change.

Of course it won't change. They'll gladly reduce profits.

Making money is over rated.

If you pay people a "living wage" the cost of living will not change.

If you pay people a "living wage" for doing something that took absolutely no schooling or training, they will suddenly step up and become vastly more productive than they were when they were not performing at a level that their boss wanted to pay them more in order to retain them.

Peer-reviewed studies show that people that are paid more are more happier and more productive. So if you pay people more, they too, by virtue of being happier, will also magically be more productive. Simple Logic, bro! Very simple.

How do you explain postal workers?

Another study, the Hawthorne Effect, links increased productivity to any change at all. Change a light-bulb and productivity goes up.

OK. Then pay them $100 per hour. Won't they be happy and productive.

I was being sarcastic, showing the fallacy of liberal argument on minimum wage.
