I have to rate myself on a scale of 1 to 5.

Next week is performance evaluations. I should have studied. On the plus side, I think my boss is afraid of me.

I was thinking 5's and one 4. Unless there's a question about giving a fuck. But I'm not above lying.

I had to meet with HR today, beings I am out of PTO and two months remaining in the year. I'm not supposed to, how did they put it, stress about needing unpaid time off, unless I need a lot, in which case they'd fire me, but I'd be rehireable. The ironic thing is, I don't give a fuck.

I don't stress anymore. There is a certain calmness that ascends on a person that is told you got this thing that will kill you unless we fix it. Of course, I don't know yet if they fixed it, so, there's that.

My boss surprised me. He did the majority of the talking. He said I was his most efficient worker. Well, it's true. He also pretty much told me he hated the HR bitch. So, there's that.

I hate office politics. It's so...inefficient.

There is also a strange sort of calm when you realize you don't care anymore because caring won't change the outcome or that you are ambivalent about the outcome.

One night not so long ago, I was having a reaction to evil pink peppercorns (they are from the cashew family, I wasn't aware of that. They should be banned, I thought they were. There should be at least a nut warning when they are used, anyway) and I decided to just write a note for my brother about what to do with my remains if I didn't get through it, and waited it out. I didn't want to deal with medical people, and such, I wanted to be in my bed listening to music.

I hope they fixed it and it won't be any more trouble to you.

If you are in the US, they can't fire you if it's medical. They have to give you unpaid level. FMLA I think.

I have 3 months FMLA remaining. The deal is the time off has to be directly related to the cause., which if they didn't make me use up all my PTO, it wouldn't be an issue.

My ex - the one who moved to Chicago - just got fired from his job because he took too much time off for medical reasons.
Now he has yet another excuse to get out of paying decent child support.
Fucker.

You have to fill out paperwork for the family medical leave act but it m ay only apply to citizens, I don't know.

That sounds actionable if you need to do it. Here's hoping you don't.
