Would you call this Plagiarism?

One is written by soular, a masterpiece and a work of art, titled Seven Days, and the other is by taniarice titled Possession .

I call the latter a work of blatantly plagiarised art, with a slight twist, but otherwise copying of ideas at its best. Shouldn't this be banned?

I don't have time to read through, but if its a case of a fairly identical storyline with a very minor differences then its not really plagiarism just an author who read the original really liked it and wanted to write one just like it. Still a seedy thing to do, I would think we should all try to put our own imprint on stories that the premise has been done before, but some people don't feel that way.

There is a piece of garbage series in incest called Just the Six of Us that blatantly steals from about four other long running incest stories and the fans can't get enough of it:rolleyes:

Also...read Twilight then 50 shades. EL James has made millions with a blatant rip off. I occasionally hear there is some type of suit involved, but then that's denied in other areas.

Bottom line is unless its pretty much copy pasted I doubt it would seen as 'stolen' here.

This is not something that I'd do to earn favourites and feedback. It's cheap and immoral. And a good, different plot is something that I pride my half-written shit on, so doing or even seeing something like this is annoying at the very least.

Someone (Noira, I think) had said that a plot of almost every kind has been written till date. It's just the way of the story telling and the theme that we can make a difference in.

But THIS? Pure BS.

I had added this author to my favourite list, because of the plot, and maybe I'll even keep it that way because I want to see where this story ends.

Pitiful me, I know.

Huh?

Didn't know that. Which ones did Mentalcase steal from?

That was one of the first Incest story/series that I started reading, but got pretty much boring towards the later chapters as the story line feels dragged and monotonous.

Mmmm...reading the first sentence from each...the first one ends where the second adds a little language to make it seem different.

I didn't read all that much, but after that first sentence thing do change, even if the plot is exactly the same.

How many movies have been made about the White House coming under attack by terrorists? So far as I know 2. Olympus has Fallen and White House Down. The plots are almost identical, just the terrorists have changed to protect the innocent. In one they are North Koreans, in the other they are home grown idiots. They are idiots, they do lose in the end, so do the North Koreans.

Now the Question remains...which is better?

As for the movies, one does have Morgan Freeman in it, where the other had Jamie Foxx. Other than that distinction, they are exactly the same as for entertainment value. Not too good, not too bad.

I liked soular's piece better, but he has completed the story arc so there's nothing left to see except rereading it again.

Both of the stories have the same story arc: Girl sells herself to the mob boss to repay a debt, mob boss falls in love but their love is one with many obstacles in between.

Stealing of idea, perhaps?

What would you do if someone started selling a book based on your idea? Can Author's slap some charges on the offender?

It's very hard to prove the "stealing ideas" part of plagiarism. Ideas can't be copyrighted. If they follow a previous plotline extremely closely (and if they are making a profit somehow for the plagiarist), stealing them can be actionable. That's a big "if," though. "New" ideas tend to pop up in more than one place at a time and there aren't very many truly "new" ideas popping up at all anyway.

You're right.

I don't know any law regarding this, but by the way things sound, anyone who makes a few tweaks here and there (as in this case) can walk around making money and claiming it as his/her own connotation.

Just saw a documentary on Mark Zuckerberg and the charges he faced for stealing another students' idea for Facebook. They had filed a Lawsuit based on "Immoral something-something" and "Stealing of Ideas". Don't know what happened to that, or if the case is still pending, but that case sounds strangely familiar to this one.

So I had to ask. :)

I read a few graphs of each one. The only thing that's similar is the opening sentence or two. "Seven Days," which I read myself some time ago, is in a totally different category (Interracial Love) than "Possession" (Non-con). After their respective opening sentences, which are similar, they diverge.

Since this is an erotica site, and there's a lot of emphasis on physical appearance in a lot of stories, I can't say I think it's too unusual to find openings where characters are examining themselves in the mirror. And if that character is a woman, it is not unusual for her to be critical of her appearance.

Party of five mainly

Then conflicted

Then Siblings with benefits

Not to mention it was outed that his one time "editor" was all but rewriting every chapter.

However as far as boring goes? That's because you have a brain and look for a continuing storyline. He still has a large following of people who just give five stars because he is having sex with all four of his sisters and there is a another character who has sisters that he is fucking and then....

So his work does demonstrate what many here already know. Some people will eat the same lunch everyday for years and not mind.

Their plot are similar, as I've mentioned in an earlier post. The stories do diverge in a few places, but not in a humongous proportion to call it genuine.

Sad case, but He's got a substantial fan following for sure. I don't think most readers mind a similar plot/story, as long as it's something that tickles their fantasies.

For an example, I'll take a few stories in Non-Con.

Taking of Lena series by ablondegoddess has so many remakes, that I forgot to keep a count of it. Same thing with The Last Tritan by WaterBurn and The Rebellious Slave by HisPet21.

Most readers come here to wiggle their joysticks, and if they get more than one types for aiding them, they aren't going to complain. ;)

i read this before and it sucked then just as it sucks now delete and never post again.
)

I got this as a comment on a story of mine. It's part two of a series and is the same story as part one for half its length... just seen through of a second set of eyes.:)

There is a story on site that I read a few years back that had the most marvelous idea for a story. Then the writer did a terrible job with that idea. Would I be remiss to take up that wonderful idea and try to do it justice?

At what point does a story idea become someone's (not legally I get that) exclusive bit of words? I mean there are a lot of ways to tell the same story idea.

Fine. Go ahead and copy someone else's work and increase your favourite count.

;)

You are right with that, but the original author gets no bloody credit for that, does he?

It wouldn't really hurt to have "Inspired by XYZ" before a story. The thought of patting your own back by redoing someone else's work icks me, not the process of being inspired and paying a tribute to it.

I don't know if "ideas" can be copyrighted, but if it were, it would be murky because there are no definite boundaries to it.

If everyone started copyrighting their ideas, then....

I hate to think about it.

Good news. Since you can't copyright an idea, it's hardly something that needs to be thought about.

Are they good?

I haven't seen The Parent Trap since I was a little kid, I thought it was silly and stupid even back then.

Twin Dragons is a Jackie Chan flick that I find endlessly entertaining, as are most of his films, and features Maggie Cheung from the Jet Li film Hero. It also involves pianos and two Jackie Chans in a bathtub with one woman.

Double Impact is awesome, as it features the same premise as Twin Dragons (twins split at birth), but doesn't involve the cheesy comedy Chan films are known for. Sometimes it gets brutal, but I found it to be a surprisingly good film (since I love films of this genre my opinion may be tainted). At minimum, the ladies get two Jean Claude Van Dammes for the price of one. Dudes get 2x the bad guy ass kicking.

I'm not particularly a huge fan of Action flicks, but thanks for the review. I may watch it when I get the time. :)

About 20 or so years ago, one of the TV channels here showed a glut of them. It was epic. I watched them with my cousin, we didn't get any sleep for nights on end.

The pre-Hollywood films, Hollywood hadn't even heard of him. They were great. Awesome and amusing in equal quantities.

(I don't mind subtitles though.)

If I had to pick favorites of his, they would be:
