dude you've said that before, which puzzles me.

what does "dining culture" mean to you?

To borrow a phrase, "It is a city of Northern charm and Southern efficiency."

Translation: it's a god-awful urban hellhole full of political types and those who feed at the trough of government.

Defined dining areas where you can enjoy a meal and walk around for a while. Like Little Italy in Baltimore or any of the several neighborhoods in NYC.

DC has a handful of disparate restaurants that have nothing at all going on around them after 6 pm. DC is a working city, not a social city. Once all the workers head back to Maryland and Virginia in the eventing the city rolls up the sidewalks.

Except for maybe Adams Morgan - but I'm too old for that neighborhood.

L'amour est difficile. Je ne comprends pas les hommes.. Mais mon couer veut l'impossiblé.

Sometimes I like to vent in french.

Also, fuck YES!!!

L'amour n'est pas difficile, mais je pense que le marriage est vraiment compliqué.

From NPR:

At least a dozen trekkers have been killed in unseasonable blizzards and an avalanche in the foothills of Nepal's Himalayan mountain range.

NPR's Julie McCarthy, reporting from New Delhi, says locals and international tourists are among the dead. Rescuers say those killed include four Canadians, two Poles, an Israeli, an Indian and a Nepali.

The Wall Street Journal says:

"More than 100 tourists were crossing the nearly 18,000-foot-high Thorong La pass when heavy snow began to fall Tuesday, said Basant Hamal, general secretary of the nonprofit Himalayan Rescue Association.

"Many rushed to descend to lower altitudes, but others were trapped as the storm closed in. By Wednesday evening, 18 survivors had been rescued, Mr. Hamal said."

Julie says the bad weather has been linked to cyclone Hudhud.

The trekkers were descending from Mount Annapurna, the world's 10th-highest peak and one of the most popular high-altitude treks in Nepal, Julie says.

 well i'm cooking dinner and started reading Gone Girl and pming with Harry so despite it being almost dark already and raining, it IS a good day.

crikey, take care! is that normal, getting phone alerts? seems like a great idea. in japan, they get auto tsunami alerts to phones within minutes of severe quakes. saves a lot of lives.
