The pulled pork barbecue I made yesterday for dinner was quite tasty but I HATE trying to clean that roasting pan. *sigh* It's been soaking with detergent all night and it's still being sticky and icky.
Get yourself some washing soda (laundry aisle ), it will remove the nastiest of stickies from your cookware, but be warned, it will eat aluminum, so stick with enameled and stainless cookware. Note, most stainless cookware has aluminum rivet to hold the handles on, washing soda will eat the rivets if left too long, don't submerge the rivets and you'll be just fine.
The other helpful item I use in the kitchen are stainless steel scrubbies to use on the stainless cookware, better than steel wool SOS pads or scotch brite scrubbies. Don't use them on non-stick pans, or you'll remove the non-stick coating along with whatever is stuck to it. I've not used the washing soda on a non-stick surface to know how it will react, attempt this at your own risk.
If you keep doing that you will go blind.![]()
