I hate the feeling whenever he removes my collar, but soon that feeling is replaced by anticipation of our next time together when I kneel and present my neck for it the next time.

I know your situation seems to be longer term, but assuming you have a strong relationship and connection to begin with, then perhaps it's time to earn your collar again. If you feel then you didn't deserve to lose it I would hope that you have a chance to make your feelings known.
