Stuck in a Library...

Well, I am not truly 'stuck,' per se - I suppose I can leave at any time - but this research really needs to get done, and I can't really justify leaving until the library closes. With my motivation to be productive at absolute zero, I find myself more in a re-productive mood. Bad puns aside, the opportunity to have some fun in this nearly-empty academic space is just too tempting to pass up.

I don't suppose anyone has any ideas of how I can take advantage of the situation, eh?

This (surprisingly) worked out well last time, so please allow me the shameless self-bump.

The research which you all so admirably helped me avoid last time around has finally been completed... yet, I now find myself tasked with turning that very research into an article before Monday's publisher's deadline. Wahoo.

So here I am, stuck not in a library, but in my office on this lovely Friday night, hopelessly staring at a half-completed Word document. Once again I appeal to you, the users of Lit, help me procrastinate tonight (and in turn, making my weekend that much more hectic and stressful.... but, whatever, that's tomorrow's problem.)

...Bueller? ....Bueller?

When in need always search out fellow professional slackers. Even though I'm not avoiding any particular work at the moment, I'll be more than happy to share some worthwhile distracting techniques. LONG LIVE THE PROCRASTINATORS!!
 
So true...have no idea how people complete projects without the pressure of deadlines...

If you're suggesting that I should stop working and go to sleep... doesn't that kills all the fun of procrastinating?

If I am not getting getting work done, I want that awesomely guilty feeling of knowing I am not getting work done. Its kinda like an indulgence: half the fun is knowing you shouldn't be doing it. (To parallel: just like Lit)

Sometimes shredding paper is a good way to pass time and look like you're busy while you're doing it.

When studying for my first degree, my room was always at its tidiest during exam time. Revision avoidance at its best. Didn't have such easy access to the internet in those days.
 
I don't have an answer but a question. Who is Art and why do you want to talk about the poor guy? ( sorry, bad joke, I know but I couldn't help myself)
 
There are so many 'Arts' from which to choose: Art Farmer; Art Rooney; Art the medieval king; the Fonz (Arthur Herbet Fonzarelli); Artie Lange; Artie from the Sopranos; Arthur Weasley; Artie, the Strongest man in the world. So many more.

You really can't go wrong.
 
So this thread went pretty amazingly off track a long time ago, so why not delve into the breach one more time? Once again, I come to you, oh Lit, to rescue me from the doldrums of summer research in a nearly empty library. Up here on the eighth floor it is quieter than Jon Snow’s Lord Commander Appreciation Day celebration (…too soon?), and has left my desire to be productive hovering somewhere right above absolute zero (and once again lead to an unhealthy need to produce bad puns). Help save me from myself?

As a proposed solution, I will gladly transpose the mildly entertaining yet also maddeningly infuriating undergraduate graffiti strewn across my carrel to any interested parties; see picture.

What are you researching now? I am procrastinating going to the post office.

Haha, probably not, but the fact that you are literate enough in thrones-related idioms means you'll probably make it through just fine.

I am research early farming technology and innovation. I swear it is more interesting that I just made it sound... (or, it perfectly demonstrates why I am so ungodly bored right now).

The post office does present an equally unappealing activity, though. Its always just so, well, unpleasant there... (sorry to any post-people here). Do you have to just drop off a letter or ship a package?

Ship 2 packages, this is almost as exciting as talking about the weather-it's nice out :)

I know very little about farming, are you researching machine innovation or seed innovation?
