Steubenville Rapist returns to High School Football team

Sure looks like you are blamin' the rape victim here to me.

Am I missing something?

It's called Victim Shaming
It's why far too many victims of sexual violence, male and female, never come forward. People like "him" blame the victims.

I'm beginning to think that there was a non-consent sexual episode in the Chief's past.

but don't you guys understand that passing out while drunk and raping someone are exactly the same thing morally?

And legally! Someone's out, there is no consent, whether or not she/he gave prior consent.

Rape is NEVER the fault of the victim!!! I don't care whether she placed herself into the situation or had drinks. RAPE IS FUCKING RAPE!!

Get your fucking head out of your ass

Let's shame rape victims. Mighty manly of you!!!

Again.

You are not reading.

I am not condoning rape.

You are being outraged in the wrong direction.

Not one of my comments are about the events of that evening.

Just, for once, turn off your internal dialog and think about it; the circumstances...

;)

... and the reactions. The reaction was to the law and the indignation that the law did not preclude these "boys" to never have a life again.

It is more about the hate of football than anything else as far as I can see because not a single one of you is outraged that these kids were put into a situation where, knowing for a fact that they cannot control their little bodies, alcohol was thrown into the mix and that the boys were supposed to be, and remain, complete angels whereas if she had just given it up and gotten pregnant it would have been no fault of her own because it is well-established, by the abortion arguments, that she cannot control her hormone-driven emotions. But girls are definitely in under the rubric of the Liberal victim group and boys are definitely under the auspices of the Liberal victimizer class.

Again, I ask, of the boys and the girls...

WHERE WAS THE FUCKING PARENTING???

My girl isn't going to get raped and dolf's boys aren't going to be rapists because we're involved parents who realize that WE have a fucking responsibility to shepherd them through these confusing years.

The law let these boys resume a normal life. If you can call doing 9 months time plus 20 years of further punishment a "normal" life.

You're STILL blaming the victim. Every adult involved is in the wrong, we get that, but you're blaming the victim, too

If liquor+sex=rape I suspect the number of adults who have never raped nor been raped is probably just slightly higher than the number of adult virgins.

She was underage
She had alcohol in her system.
She could not give consent.

If she didn't want to be raped she shouldn't have been drinking with her friends, without her parents there, like all highschool kids do.

AJ, you're an ignorant douche. No one "hates football" in that town. It's all they have besides a shit mall. And a 45 minute drive to Pittsburgh.

I'm not even fucking talking about the crime your purposeful hateful moron.

Go back to the first four or five posts.

Try to think...

No one is outraged about the crime, the circumstance or the conviction.

What they are outraged about is that the punishment wasn't fucking nuclear.

So it's the victim's parents' fault, or no one's because they were just drunk teenagers?

So it's the victim's parents' fault, or no one's because they were just drunk teenagers?

Again.

Only the victim's parents.

Do you see how fucking obsessed you are?

Where the fuck were the boy's parents too? But I guess they weren't victims.

They were of the victimizer class, so they have to be the guilty party, no extenuating circumstances, no mistake of youth and poor judgement, from here on out, they can never be involved with the fucking community, because they are adult criminals. You do not even know if they were all consensually heavily petting and carrying on before the 'rape.' All we know is that they were all left to their own devices late into the night. As a parent, I would never, ever allow that to happen. Our teenager goes no where that there is no adult supervision.

In this particular case it's clear (or seems from the video) that she wasn't drinking. She was passed the fuck out. I'm not a huge fan of our age of consent laws. I think they cause more problems than they solve especially in cases like this. I mean if she'd been 100% sober, pushed him into a broom closet and taken him it would still be rape because of her age and I've yet to see a case where BOTH teens go to jail for rape because we understand on a gut level that rape needs a victim. Two sixteen year olds can't rape each other one of them had to have been the aggressor. Thems the fucking rules.

I agree that liquor robs you of the ability to give consent but. . .taking a lady out for drinks is an age old practice. So it becomes a matter of your best judgement and hoping she doesn't change her mind.

And it shouldn't be seen as shaming the victim to say that people have an obligation to protect themselves. If I go to Iraq and start petitioning to give more land to Israel. . .it doesn't make chopping my head off acceptable by any means but it does make me a dumb ass and maybe there is a way we can place blame where it belongs while also telling young ladies to protect themselves, have a designated sober friend who is with you. It's your fault if you drink and drive.

If she didn't want to be raped she shouldn't have been drinking with her friends, without her parents there, like all highschool kids do.

Everybody takes chances in life and sometimes bad results happen. If the same girl had been at the same party fallen in the pool and drown, jumped off the roof and died or more likely broken something like a close friend of mine did or if she wandered into the wrong yard and got mauled by a dog, hit by traffic or thousands of other things we'd talk about how drinking and not knowing your limits is a problem. If she'd stabbed or shot someone we'd be talking about how drinking is no excuse. Probably tossing on something that I've always found to be true. Drinking doesn't really make you do things you don't want to. It lets you do thinks you know better than to do.

We're so caught up in the emotion of the situation that we are not addressing it rationally.

They were in the wrong: I said ALL adults involved were

But you're still absolving the boys of criminal acts.
