Nowadays? I think it's because people are bombarded with too much information so they can't get a clear view of what's happening. Loyalty is something that's earned through personal perspective of others actions. When you get fifty perspectives, it's hard to piece together a consistent story so loyalty wavers.
And also some people are just greedy assholes.
How do you think the pace of technology has affected interpersonal relationships?
Haha, they are at that!
I think it's become very easy to express yourself through technology when you don't have to face someone to tell them how you feel. I don't necessarily think it's a good thing, because you're not held accountable as it's considered to many as 'nothing personal'.
