Anyone else watching this show?

I just started the second season, and man, it is good! A great cast too. Liev Schreiber stars as Ray Donovan, but the supporting cast is knock out good. Jon Voight is awesome as the father, Mickey, and there are also appearances by Elliot Gould and James Woods, one of my all time favourite actors.

If you have not seen it, I totally recommend it. The first couple of episodes of the first season are a bit slow to start, but once you are into it, you'll be hooked.

Never heard of it. And I do watch a fair bit of tv. Where is it running?

I hate the show and feel sad for its creative team because it was and is currently in a programming bloc with Masters of Sex.

Masters isn't a perfect show--or even all that good given that it, like Donovan, is clearly trying to be the next 'prestige drama'--but the fact that it pulled off a very similar season-long character arc for one of its leads in a way that blew Donovan's out of the water is just completely embarrassing.

HBO I think. Decent show, and got better towards the end of last season

Huh, must have missed it. Will check out once I have decent broadband again.

I guess we are all entitled to our opinions. I watched both shows, Masters of Sex and Ray Donovan. I enjoyed them both, but I found I preferred the gritty characters of Donovan.

Chacun son gout.

I wish they did a little more dirty Hollywood deeds, and less internal family drama...

are you a wannabe Hollywood person?

It's pretty good. It bridges the gap between Game Of Thrones and The Walking Dead.

See, now, it's the fucked up, dysfunctional family drama that I like about the show! :D

I like that they are trying to live this high-falutin', fancy-ass Hollywood lifestyle, with the cars, the house, the snooty private school, when they are still basically low-life Boston thugs and gangsters. It's like trying to put a fresh coat of pain on a rusty door, and the rust just keeps breaking through.

I just started watching Season 2, so looking forward to seeing how it goes.

I agree, there is a backstory, which is important. I just like more action, and I said the same with the Sopranos although it was hard to find fault with that show.

Hubby and I have watched since the beginning and enjoyed last nights episode.

L:rose:

Just watched the last 2 episodes of the season. Can't wait for season 3.

My wife found the show, I started watching it with her in season two and just love it.

Ray's life just sucks.

I'd say it's a pretty good second tier show, somewhat better than the bulk of network shows, not as good as, say Justified.

Oh, and it's on Showtime, not HBO.
