It's been a while since I wrote a WIWAW, and we have the challenge coming up this summer. With that in mind, here's a quick one about a recent story. I don't go into as much detail of my technical choices as I usually do: it's mostly a description of why I wrote this story and where some of the elements came from.
When I first started writing erotica, it was pretty shallow. A long series of short chapters about an adventurer who finds a statue of the Goddess of Love. It comes to life, they shack up, supernatural sex occurs over 20+ stories.
Then I started to write some sword & sorcery, and then some deeper stories, and gradually it all became quite serious. There were plots, and characters, and drama.
A while ago I realised that it had been ages since I'd written a story that was all about the sex, and that I missed it. So I decided that's what I'd do. Nothing serious, nothing profound. Just a series of sexual encounters strung together on the loosest of premises.
The result was One Orgasm At A Time. Published in Sci-Fi & Fantasy about a fortnight ago, it's 4.7k words long. It's had 2.3k views so far - about average for SF/F, in my experience - with 2 favourites and 5 comments. It's on exactly 4.5 stars from 32 ratings.
The premise, as I mentioned, is flimsy. I wanted a reason for my main character to have endless sexual encounters, with no emotional build-up and no soul-searching. After some thought, I settled on the idea of a woman - Dolly, short for Pandora - being sent on a mission to restore the orgasmic balance. Yes, she's been masturbating so much that she's stolen orgasms from people who deserved them more. Now she has to return them.
Clearly this required some kind of supernatural entity, someone to send her on this mission. In the spirit of silliness, I decided to introduce the personification of Orgasm. As I was writing, though, my mind drifted to tales of the Three Norns, and in literature Orwen, Orddu and Orgoch from the Chronicles of Prydain. And so the personification of Orgasm became the Three Aspects of Orgasm: Arousal, Climax and Satisfaction.
And then something happened that I hadn't anticipated. The Aspects became my favourite part. Climax does most of the talking, and she's quite vocal. Arousal is excitable, and Satisfaction is... well, content.
As you might be able to tell, Satisfaction is my favourite.
So Dolly goes off on her mission. The first chapter describes two sexual encounters, but obviously there are plenty more to come. The difficulty is resisting the urge to make everything serious. I was on the verge of writing a scene where Dolly finds herself at the bedside of a sick ex lover the night before his death. It could be heart-wrenching, but that's not what Dolly's story is about. So no dying boyfriends just yet. Just good, clean depraved fun. And as long as I have time to write, and I don't run out of ideas, Dolly's mission will continue.

They were female, she thought, and dressed in robes. The one on the left was in bright red, the one on the right in a soft silver. The middle one, taller than her companions, was in a bright gold that appeared to leap out and stab at Dolly's eyes, even in the dim lamplight.
"Wh-- who are you?" Dolly asked again as she arranged the sheet over her ankles and feet.
The three women's features were hidden by deep hoods, and their hands were tucked inside wide sleeves.
"Tell her!" the one in red whispered.
"Pandora," the tall one began, and Dolly gave a start when she realised that she was being addressed by name, "thief of orgasms."
"Thief," the last one murmured. "Orgasms." She sounded pleased.
"How many orgasms have you stolen from those that deserved them more?"
"Stolen?" Dolly managed at last. "How-- I've just been... playing with myself." Despite herself, she cast a guilty look at the Sensationaliser.
"Playing," sighed the one in silver. "Hmm."
"We are the Three Aspects of Orgasm!" the tall one boomed. She seemed to become even taller, rising and towering up over the bed.
"Arousal," the one in red moaned.
"Climax!" the middle one cried.
"Satisfaction," the final one murmured. It sounded like she was trying to stifle a yawn.
As you might be able to tell, Satisfaction is my favourite.
