Today is a wonderful day! One of my favorite holidays, I love seeing the red, white and blue all over! Fireworks are fun, too.

For us it looks like a bad storm is rolling in, so I think our plans will be to stay home and enjoy some yummy food. I've made potato salad, and plan to roast corn on the cob, mushrooms, bell peppers and have some tasty hot dogs.

If the weather permits, I'd like to go see the fireworks display at the lake. If not, I think I'll be happy with a couple of sparklers. (-_^)

What are you doing to celebrate?

Edit: oh crap! I'm sorry, this should be in the Cafe! I've really gotta stop doing this from my phone. (>人<) I'm so sorry!

I like BBQs, I like booze, I like hanging out with family and friends, and that's about it.

I hate fireworks. Hate hate hate them. My folks took me to a fireworks show at the Rose Bowl when I was probably toddler-aged, and I have this memory seared in my mind that looks like a portal to hell opening up before me on the field below, to give you an idea of how traumatic that was for me :p. Coupled with my extremely sensitive hearing, and the mild PTSD I developed after having not one, but two shootings happen on my doorstep when I lived in Bed Stuy, and you've got a recipe for a very, very unhappy person for the entire week leading up to this stupid holiday.

Oh, and also I'm not a fan of the US at all, so I see nothing to celebrate symbolically either. :V

Love fireworks. Love terribly unhealthy food. Love summer. The 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays. :)

There are things about our country that are awful, but there are things that are great, too. We focus on the crappy stuff often, so it's nice to take a day to do the opposite sometimes. :)

It's pleasant outside today--not quite 80 degrees--which is a huge difference from what it normally is here this time of year. I'm stuck working 'til 6, but after that, dinner and fireworks.

Happy 4th, everybody!

Ah, if you can figure out a way to twist shooting some fireworks at naked bodies tied up against a tree or something and ask for suggestions on the topic, I'd guess you posted to the correct forum. Oh, shooting Roman candles or pop bottle rockets at bound naked women sounds like fun.

I like the idea of being tied up against a tree. Not so much on the fireworks, though. Though, speaking of being tied, I suppose it might be fun to wear some ropes under my clothes to go view some fireworks. :D

Haven't you ever been hit by a Roman candle or pop bottle rocket? That used to be one of the ways we would play with them. Pick sides and shoot at each other. Of course, you get a fair distance apart, so they lose their momentum after a while. I'm sure a paddle hurts a lot more.

Wow, DVS. You've given me a whole new perspective on fireworks.

Happy 4th! :)

Fireworks are fine from a distance, but I'm not ok with them flying towards me. If anyone played like that, I was the first to hide behind something. I've watched people get hit in the face, not cool.
